The 10 in. self-ratcheting pliers wrench from Knipex adjusts into infinite positions and applies uniform compression to fasten, bend, press, hold and grip soft or plated materials like stainless steel without damaging or marring a workpiece. Push-button adjustment among 13 settings allows full-contact gripping on a wide range of sizes, including fastening of nuts and bolts up to 2-3/8 in. or 60 mm. Constructed with heavy-duty forged steel and outfitted with easy-grip cushioned handles, these pliers have smooth, parallel jaws designed to produce zero backlash under pressure, which inhibits stripping and slipping.
- Excellent for gripping, holding, pressing and bending workpieces
- Ideal for careful installation of finished-surface components
- Zero-backlash jaw-surface pressure prevents damage to edges of sensitive components
- Adjusts quickly by pushing a button directly on the tool
- No unintentional shift of the gripping jaws and no slipping of the joint
- Replaces a complete set of spanner wrenches
- Parallel jaws allow infinitely variable gripping on a wide range of sizes
- The action of the jaws allows screwed connections to be tightened and released quickly using the ratchet principle
- Lever transmission greater than 10:1 for strong gripping power
- Capacity up to 60 mm or 2-3/8 in. allows application even on large nuts
- Backed by Knipex lifetime limited warranty

One of the best hand tools I have purchased in the past few years, very comfortable, versatile and easy to adapt. This one tool can easily replace at least 3 other tools in my toolbox, freeing more space.

This is an awesome tool. You can use them as a “ratcheting” adjustable wrench. Squeeze the handles to tighten and loosen your grip to ratchet. These are also extremely handy if you need to install small roll pins. Just cover the jaws with electrical tape, align the roll pin and squeeze the handles. The jaws move in a straight line and act like a small vise making installation a breeze.

The Knipex 8603250, I just bought, (Made in Germany) (the one with the red handle) is a beautifully engineered tool with superior quality and easy to use pliers. It does an excellent job to assemble and remove hexagonal bolts and nuts (parallel jaws, wide range of sizes, easy to adjust in one tool etc.). And that is what it does-as advertised-and nothing else for $50. I am very pleased with it and recommend it to any one. For $20, on the other-hands, the made in America CHANNEL-LOCK (the one with the sky-blue handle) (I have one for the last 20 years) is a beautifully designed and innovating 2-piece work of art and ingenuity, rugged to the extreme. It almost does everything the Knipex does; except for its teeth marring the nut surfaces (I tape the teeth or insert a piece of vinyl tubing on its jaws, if I need to). It can also grab smooth tubing (granted while marring its surfaces). It also make very a very effective, long lasting and versatile nut cracker in the fall during nut season (friends an family look at it curiously when they see it on top of the nut bowl but quickly got the idea). And yes, it can also be used as make-shift mini wise by sticking the larger handle in a hole in a piece of wood and holding the work by quizzing the 2 handles with few rubber bands.

I’d heard good things about these and was excited to try them out. They absolutely live up to the hype. They perform most of the same tasks you’d use an adjustable wrench for but they don’t round off bolts when you’re applying a lot of torque, they don’t mar the finish, and they can often “ratchet” similar to channel locks.A third thing that I’ve found them useful for is crimping things. They have massive mechanical advantage and they squeeze much harder than most pliers. When I’m sweating vertical runs of copper and it’s advantageous to slightly deform a fitting so that it won’t simply fall out of the pipe it’s hanging off, you just give these a gentle squeeze and it’s perfect. Stick a penny in there and with no effort it’ll crush. Have fun trying to do that with your channel locks. And that mechanical advantage is part of the reason it doesn’t round off bolt heads (the other being that the jaws stay parallel due to the design). But… the mechanical advantage comes at a cost: for a lot of motion in the handles, the plier head doesn’t close very much. This means you have to set it very close to the actual size of the bolt you’re working with. You don’t get as much room for sloppy adjustment as you do with other tools like channel locks. And that can be a bit of a pain while you’re getting used to these and have to adjust them a few times before you get it right. At this point it’s pretty painless and natural for me but I remember that being annoying at the time.
