These are surprisingly effective for the 1/8 steel rope I got them to cut. When I saw these in person they were smaller than I was thinking so I wondered just how well they would handle the bigger 1/8th cable I needed them to cut. But they do a good job of cutting it. I have been cutting this steel rope with bolt cutters but this is the way to go. It is so much faster and easier and gives a better, cleaner cut. I do have to use both hands to keep from straining but I’m older and have lost a lot of the strength in my hands. When I was younger it would have easily been a one hand operation with this. I can do it with one hand now but I have to work harder than I want at it. Anyways it beats the heck out of bolt cutters. They are very sharp and seem to hold an edge well so far. I use the 1/8th cable for rigging a number of things and to get through the job faster. So this is the goto tool for me now for cutting cable.
