Water and scratch resistant, this 42″ x 100′ roll of Universal Backlit Film from Kodak is optimized for use in backlit displays in high-traffic areas, such as a mall or airport. It is made from a durable polyester material with a durable macroporous coating that resists flaking when cut and is compatible with both dye- and pigment-based inks. It is also heavyweight at 275 gsm and measures 8 mil thick. Additionally, the matte material features an opacity of 70%, a whiteness of 157%, and a gloss level of 5%. It comes on a 2″ core.

This film was used in a temporary public art piece – not necessarily it’s intended use. I did not print on it, but used acrylic paints on the matte side of the film for part of the piece. It is durable, waterproof and flexible. It rained and held up. I would use it again for it’s specific purpose as well as alternate uses.

I thought this would be visible on the opposite print side after printing, but it is not. over a light box it’s great. it is very sturdy, and heavy as heck.

I purchased this material to print large scale images on for an upcoming show. The texture of the printable size is matte enough and light passes through the film extremely well. If you’re interested in having light pass through your prints, this is a really great material to purchase. I was unable to locate an ICC profile for it, but I’m making my own.
