I use this bit all the time. When I build something, I build it to last several lifetimes. Traditional framing using a nail gun to toenail studs sometimes splinters the ends weakening the studs. The pocket holes leaves the stud intact. It takes longer but the results are superior. highly recommended.

I use it on a lot. it’s a time saver. only had one bad bit that broke. a new bit i touch it to the wood it fell on the ground. pick it up and saw it had a air bubble in the steel. should have retruned it but work got busy. i’ve had this kreg set for about 12 years. that’s the only bad thing that’s happened.

Careful! “Heavy Duty” means too large for the standard Kreg jigs. This item is 1/2” diameter. All the standard Kreg hardware is sized for 3/8” drills (which Home Depot does not carry).

I got this (and the jig) when they first came out because of the ability to work with 2x lumber. The first bit I got broke after the first few holes. Called Kreg customer service and they shipped a new out right away and that one has been going ever since. I’ve probably drilled 150 holes or so with it and it still cuts well. BTW, you can buy either the bit or the bit and jig as a kit and although the drill bits get dull after a while, I’ve never worn out a jig yet and I’ve drilled a lot of holes with this and it’s smaller cousins. Not sure how this got confused as being the kit as the other fellow indicated. Anyway, if you have an application for drilling pocket holes in 2x lumber, this is it.
