With a capacity of 1TB, the Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive from LaCie marries a USB 3.0 Type-C interface and data transfer speeds of up to 130 MB/s with rugged durability that provides a drop resistance of up to 4′, crush resistance of up to 1 ton, and rain resistance, making this drive suitable for all-terrain storage, whether you’re in the field or in your home. It can be used to store large Lightroom libraries, as a shuttle drive to transport footage from a set to a post-production house, or just for general tasks.
LaCie’s 1TB Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive is compatible with Windows 7 and later and macOS 10.12 and later, but should also work on earlier versions of macOS, such as 10.9 and 10.11. It is powered using the USB bus, meaning that no external power adapters are required for use. Included is a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C cable, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C to Type-A cable, and two years of Seagate Rescue Data Recovery Services. General protection is provided by a limited 2-year warranty.

I’ve had this drive about 2 months now. I’m using it with an M1 Mac Mini. I bought it as a cheaper alternative to SanDisk Extreme Pro SSDs.I use it primarily with Lr, Ps and Pr. It’s actually so slow in rendering previews in Lr that I won’t buy another. It’s TB/$$ ratio is good but not if it’s frustrating.

I like LaCie hard drives and I have a variety of them and have never had trouble. Until this time. I have a MacBook pro with USB-A connections, still. The drive with the USB-C cable and adapter didn’t work. It received power through the setup, but not enough to connect and give me the HD icon on the desktop. Tried all workarounds suggested, but no luck. Bought a USB-C to USB-A cable and – so far – it works.

Orange makes it easy to find in a jungle of gear, orange hard drive, orange cable. Works perfectly with OS X. TrNsfers fast and completely without issues. Large 5TB size is the standard now Must get!!
