Needed a solid external drive for Time Machine backups. This appears to do the trick. So far, very good.

I use them for daily backup when I travel and for offsite backup. Not as fast as an SSD but fast enough for what I use them for. I’ve never had a problem with any of them.

this one keeps dismounting from my mac and I can’t figure out why. I’m sure it’s an easy settings fix, but I am disappointed the drive doesn’t perform flawlessly right out of the box, as other LaCie drives I’ve purchased have done.

This portable hard drive has a wonderful compact shape even with the rubber bumper guard. The capacity of storage and speed of file writing to the drive have been a much needed breath of fresh air. I will absolutely continue to buy this hard drive as my storage space depletes over time.

I wasn’t sure about this specific hard drive brand but after having it for about a week I can safely say that I’m over the moon with it. It’s rugged and sturdy which I’m more than happy to take with me when traveling!

I am going on a cruise vacation, and will be packing a Chromebook to review and backup memory cards from three cameras. I will use the card reader to transfer video clips and photos from cameras to chromebook. And then from chrome book to hard drive. Have tested this process and it works great.

Normally I don’t write reviews for hard drives, for the most part plug it in does it’s job and you’re all good. As this Is promoted as a travel hard drive though I feel like I should say a few things, a is promoted as a travel hard drive though I feel like I should say a few things. Needless to say my confidence in the drive itself is shot. Buy with caution and always back up everything!

This does the job and does it well. It’s helpful that it connects via lightning port and USB, I can go back and forth between my computers with ease.

Ubiquitous orange drives still deliver, but slowly. Appreciate it includes USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables, but the transfer speeds are sluggish compared to everything else (as expected from a spinning disk). Great for incremental transfers, less ideal for large file transfers.

I know there are better faster options out there, but as a drive to store footage that was already edited I cannot complain. Does its job really well and is super reliable.

The build quality is quite impressive and the ones I have haven’t failed yet. However when you are choose Lacie products often you have to sacrifice the drive performance to get that slightly more durable build quality. Without the external casing you can often get equal performance at a much much lower cost. However, safety storage is my first priority. It has been the industry standard for quite some years. I keep at least one to two backups all using the Lacie 5tb drives.

It does what every external hard drive should do without fuss. The nicest thing is the build quality and design. A lot of times on smaller films, the data has to move around and doesn’t have the luxury of being at a desk. Sometimes I have to put the hard drive on top of the computer or on the laptop. The orange rubber helps prevent the drive from slipping and also feels good when holding in the hand or handing off to someone else. It’s the small things that help put this to a 5/5 instead of a 4 or 4.5. Also, I haven’t had an issue with formatting, corruption, or degradation of the hard drive so far in a year.

I have all of my files archived on these drives and I’ve been very happy with them. The software to sync to a folder on your computer also seems to work very well.

I have a new M1 laptop and this drive keeps ejecting itself automatically. I don’t trust it. My Sandisk has been flawless. I will just get another one of those drives

Nice look, fast speed, but sometimes it disconnects spontaneously. It can be drive or cable issues.
