With a capacity of 1TB, the Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive from LaCie marries a USB 3.0 Type-C interface and data transfer speeds of up to 130 MB/s with rugged durability that provides a drop resistance of up to 4′, crush resistance of up to 1 ton, and rain resistance, making this drive suitable for all-terrain storage, whether you’re in the field or in your home. It can be used to store large Lightroom libraries, as a shuttle drive to transport footage from a set to a post-production house, or just for general tasks.
LaCie’s 1TB Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive is compatible with Windows 7 and later and macOS 10.12 and later, but should also work on earlier versions of macOS, such as 10.9 and 10.11. It is powered using the USB bus, meaning that no external power adapters are required for use. Included is a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C cable, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C to Type-A cable, and two years of Seagate Rescue Data Recovery Services. General protection is provided by a limited 2-year warranty.

This the third LaCie external drive I’ve purchased and all three have been on trips, dropped, and carried in brief cases & backpacks, and they keep on working. At the same time, I’ve had two other brand name drives that died without having near the wear and tear the LaCies have. I’ll be buying more LaCies in the future.

The LaCie 1TB Rugged USB 3.1 external hard drives are affordable and very reliable. I own and use quite a few of them and have never had a problem with them. While they aren’t as fast as a solid state drive (SSD), they are handy for backing up data and/or transferring data from one computer to another.

I just started use Final Cut Pro for editing, LaCie Hard Drive stores all my files so my max is not running slow. I have Recommend LaCie 2TB to my co workers. I take it with me on the go and I don’t worry because of its Protective case around it and the Orange color makes it hard to forget any where. it catches the eye when I look for it. A must Have.

Had to re-format the disc because Macbook Pro (2019) wouldn’t write to it out of the box. Once I did that it backed up my machine fine. Pros: rugged and light Cons: Mac users will need to re-format the thing using Disk Utility to use it.

I normally buy Seagate External Hard drives, but I know so many photographers that swear by these! I bought two of them at the beginning of wedding season because I didn’t want to be caught up in editing mid-wedding season and run out of space on my current external hard drives. Well, here we are mid August and I just opened one, formatted it for my computer OS, and began backing up files. Almost immediately I started experiencing problems. The hard drive kept disconnecting, then re-connecting, then disconnecting again without me touching anything or even moving the desk. As some one who works in Lightroom directly off of my external hard drives, it wouldn’t even stay connected long enough to create a new Lightroom catalog for it. Needless to say it is impossible to work off of. Sadly in an attempt to be prepared, I ordered so long ago that both drives are no longer refundable. I just sticking to what works next time. I have never had a problem with Seagate drives and will be working off of them from here on out.

I ordered an external hard drive for my new Apple MacBook Pro to store my photos on when traveling. This HD has rugged in it’s name and certainly stands up to the name.
