With a capacity of 1TB, the Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive from LaCie marries a USB 3.0 Type-C interface and data transfer speeds of up to 130 MB/s with rugged durability that provides a drop resistance of up to 4′, crush resistance of up to 1 ton, and rain resistance, making this drive suitable for all-terrain storage, whether you’re in the field or in your home. It can be used to store large Lightroom libraries, as a shuttle drive to transport footage from a set to a post-production house, or just for general tasks.
LaCie’s 1TB Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive is compatible with Windows 7 and later and macOS 10.12 and later, but should also work on earlier versions of macOS, such as 10.9 and 10.11. It is powered using the USB bus, meaning that no external power adapters are required for use. Included is a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C cable, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C to Type-A cable, and two years of Seagate Rescue Data Recovery Services. General protection is provided by a limited 2-year warranty.

I’ve purchased multiple LaCie portable hard drives over the past few years and I wouldn’t choose any other hard drive. The device is small/compact and fits perfectly in my laptop carrying case. The device is fast and I LOVE that I can store a ton of data on it and not have to worry one bit about whether or not it’ll still be there in another year or so. Drive is as described. Seems rugged (haven’t put it to the test yet) and works well. I get about 95 MB/s read and write, so the absolute fastest but fast enough for archival needs.

The lacie 5TB rugged drive is one of the best drives I have ever owned. It’s fast to transfer files. You can even feel the quality just by holding it. The software that comes with it is excellent for doing automatic backup. You don’t need to think about it, be assured that it’s done. I would recommend it to anyone looking for that workhorse.

Works as expected right out of the box. I use a manual backup system for all my photos. Used a 2T Seagate untill I filled it up. Don’t konw why the change of name to LaCie, but this version has a USB-C. Well worth the cost.

This is the first LaCie drive I’ve purchased, I love that it is rugged like I had famously seen before I only give it 3 stars because I’ve already had it disconnect from my laptop mid-edit, and so I don’t see a better performance than from my cheaper External Drives With this being said, I will probably continue to buy drives from LaCie because it’s a pain looking for a better one
