I’ve bought and used 4 of these drives and think they’re great but the connection issue I’ve had when it comes to the reliability of the cable/port for USB-C, in general, isn’t super great which is why I’m giving it 4 stars.

It’s quick, reliable, sturdy, and perfect for my photo business. I back up photos/raws to three different places and this is definitely my most trusted back up!

I bought this knowing nothing about external hard drives and wanting to transfer my old mac data to a new one using Time Machine. It was easy to set up and it was also clear in the instructions on how to use it. It even said on the packaging that I would want to reformat the drive to use time machine. I only had a little over 200+ GB to move onto the drive and it didn’t take very long. I just took a small break, came back and it was done. Would recommend this! I also like the orange rugged case 🙂 Although I haven’t transferred my data to my new mac yet (haven’t gotten it yet), I feel like it will be a smooth transition.

Great for video storage

This drive is awesome. The only complaint I have is the thunderbolt cable easily disconnects from the port. I think it’s an Apple issue, not a LaCie one.

I have 2 other LaCie Rugged drives that I love. I started purchasing them several years ago, and need an extra back up drive. These drives work great for that. So if you looking for a reliable back up drive these are the drives for you!! Ps. If you are looking for some solid SSD’s I recommend LaCie Rugged SSD’s as well.

This is a quality hard drive for sure. I have no complaints. I use it to backup projects from my work SSD. Going to purchase two more soon. Can’t afford a NAS at the moment. So portable drives it is.

I have to add to the people who received one of these drives where the cable didn’t stay in the drive’s connector. The cable just fell out no matter how you inserted it.

I bought this for abundance storage, durability and to copy a failing WD external HDD I had for backup. A lot of You Tube reviews raved of its durability and longevity, so I spent the extra money for that reason. pro: protective cover is nice, compact, portable and Lacie has good reputation. Feels of good quality. con: copying a 3.0 USB connected WD HDD, was a lot slower than specs advertised. Once it was done access was easy. Final Thought: I want be accessing it much, so speed is not important to me. If you need speed, then SSD is the only way to go. I like it and it’s pertty!

This is the second LaCie Rugged Hard Drive I’ve purchased and have nothing but great things to say about them.

This drive is great for backing up and safely transporting data, but is extremely slow. USB C is great for use on newer model workstation to avoid having hubs. You can use this drive to edit 1080p footage and below but probably won’t work well for anything above 1080p. Four terabytes of data will take around 8-10 hours to offload to any other hard drive or solid state drive. The data transfer rate has reached its cap because it is a 5400 rpm mechanical drive. Just a fair warning to anyone who thinks USB C makes this drive any faster than previous usb and thunderbolt models. The read/write speed is about 80-90 MB/s

These guys are touch info-stor-ers, but this one had a terrible cable that didn’t work. Guess that happens some times.

Been using these drives for the field and office. Love em.
