Nice and portable. Not as fast as SSD, but it’s great price for the size and for travel

I have to add to the people who received one of these drives where the cable didn’t stay in the drive’s connector. The cable just fell out no matter how you inserted it.

Using as a time machine back up for my mbp. Works great.

I have a 1 TB LaCie rugged for 6 years without ever experiencing any issue. The new 5 TB so far is working perfectly son far. Very quiet, just a bit thicker than the old 1 TB drive, it has a nice sturdy look. The USB C cable is also thicker and seems very durable.

Plugged this into my new MacBook Pro and it simply works without issues. Cant beat that.

I bought this to act as a master backup for my photos and some important documents. Once a week, I plug it in, transfer the data, unplug it, and store it in a safe. There are other ways to accomplish what I am doing, but this works for me. It’s a solid product backed by a solid reputation.

This drive is extremely unreliable and slow. My new macbook pro always has a hard time detecting it. I brought two of these and both the drives behave the same. I did not have this issue with older versions of Lacie. In fact, my laptop still detects the older version alright. This drive is not suitable for any sort of professional work.

This is a wonderful external drive. I own three of them and also three of the older, 2TB drives with Thunderbolt and Micro-USB 3.0 connections. All have proved to be absolutely reliable and fast enough for simultaneous playback of multiple high-resolution videos. I haven’t tried dropping one onto a concrete sidewalk from the top of a tall building, but the orange bumper around the drive certainly provides plenty of protection against ordinary wear and tear. (As I said, I’ve never had one fail.) The bumper also provides good friction, so that the drive will sit on any surface without slipping. It also means there’s no need to keep the drive in a separate case. Lacie originally made drives predominantly for MACs, and those who used the older drives may have experience some minor inconvenience installing them on PCs. But these new drives are completely plug-and-play. Also, on the older drives, the orange bumper extended too close the USB socket, so that the connection was not perfectly tight. This has also been corrected on the newer modes. Overall, a great drive.

Has a beautiful design, and its very fast and it seems very durable. I like the orange color, but it would be cool if they have other colors.

Have always loved the LaCie drives, their recovery software is fantastic and quality is even better!

I am satisfied with this purchase. However, using its software online wasn’t successful with my laptop. Manually transferring files from my laptop’s local drive to the hard drive works just fine.

This drive is great for backing up and safely transporting data, but is extremely slow. USB C is great for use on newer model workstation to avoid having hubs. You can use this drive to edit 1080p footage and below but probably won’t work well for anything above 1080p. Four terabytes of data will take around 8-10 hours to offload to any other hard drive or solid state drive. The data transfer rate has reached its cap because it is a 5400 rpm mechanical drive. Just a fair warning to anyone who thinks USB C makes this drive any faster than previous usb and thunderbolt models. The read/write speed is about 80-90 MB/s

This LaCie Hard drive performs well with the Mac Mini M1.

I’ve had a few of these over the years to save my many many many travel photos as backup. Easy to use and upload from the chip using my computer. No issues

This is good for creators.

this one keeps dismounting from my mac and I can’t figure out why. I’m sure it’s an easy settings fix, but I am disappointed the drive doesn’t perform flawlessly right out of the box, as other LaCie drives I’ve purchased have done.

I recently bought a new computer, and needed more space to ensure that I was able to store videos before uploading to YouTube. This drive was perfect. It is small, rugged and easy to use.

So size is perfect both in space and also storage. I do wish there was another usb-c port to daisy chain two drives. But oh well.
