Not my first LaCie drive and won’t be my last.

Reliable, lots of storage, easy to use. I use this to store catalogs and old sessions as an added extra backup for my clients. It is reliable and simple to use!

Love the ruggedness of it. Easy to use. The packaging is somewhat a drag.

I’ve used the Ruggard series for a couple of years, rather than the desktop LaCie EHD’s. Like their size and portability, as well as their more rugged build.

Great so far. I like the small size and portability. The cable snaps into place on the computer and is tough to disconnect. I think that this is deliberate to maintain connection, but different than any other cable that I’ve experienced. Not bad, just different. I do wish the cable was integrated (permanently attached to the drive), as the thunderbolt 2 cables on the Lacie Rugged’s were.

It’s seems a little slow when transferring files sometimes. But it is a disk drive after all. I’m only using it to store old files I normally don’t look at or use often. I’d probably not use this hard drive to edit video projects, I’d use it mainly for storage only. SSD drives are faster and better for editing projects. Overall, the hard drive does it’s job with no problems. It looks and feels high quality and rugged. I’m content with this purchase and would recommend.

The first Lacie 4tb drive is still running unfortunately I ran out of space and the 5tb drive is a great edition. I never thought that a 4tb drive would fill up so fast. Who knew hahaha. I do recommend the Lacie drive because of its value and reliability.

Sturdy and reliable. My first LaCie is still working perfectly after 8 years, so I upgraded to bigger hard drive and USB-C.

Very happy with this drive. Speedy and easy to transfer a large collection to this. Highly recommend!

The hard-drive itself isn’t rugged but has a rubber enclosure to protect it, presumably from drops of a few feet. I wouldn’t huck it out the window of a moving vehicle, but I’m not sure your external drive needs that level of durability. What you’re getting here is a solid, sensible, functional increase in your storage space at a reasonable price. I am using it to store large (7gb) photoshop working files so that my MacBook doesn’t get bogged down. Working well so far…

I’d prefer this to have been a Thunderbolt drive for my Mac – but this works as storage fine.

I can’t exist anymore without my LaCies and it’s orange protector. It’s fast, trustable, I never had any problems with it; and 5 TB is a dream.

In order to keep up with my ever growing need to more hard drive space to store my video footage, I count to LaCie for drives that give me long term storage protection for my files. This is an excellent, sturdy hard drive that I can count on for keeping my files safe for a long time to come.

Drive is not always recognized. So do you pull the cable and start over? When it’s up and running it seems to work fine. Do not have full confidence in this Type C plug and am stepping back to earlier USB models.

As far as external drives go, this is the best one I’ve had. It’s reliable, feels durable, and connects via USB-C. After two bad experiences with Western Digital drives, I’m staying with Seagate/LaCie. Both this drive and my 500GB Seagate external HDD are my daily drivers, and I’ve yet to experience any data reading/writing problems. There’s just one quirk with this drive. When I connect to my MacBook using the USB Type-C-to-Type-C cable, the drive will start to disconnect itself at semi-regular intervals after a few minutes. This only happens on my Mac; my PC laptop is immune to this problem. I reached out to LaCie, and they recommended trying a different cable. When I connect with the USB Type-A-to-Type-C cable, the problem goes away. I assume it’s either just the cable or my computer, but I figured I might as well throw that experience out there. Overall, all I have to say is: Don’t regret buying cheap crap. Just get a LaCie Rugged drive and you won’t have to worry about losing anything.

I have several of these drives and they have proven reliable for years. I will continue buying LaCie drives as long as the quality stays the same
