The device works very well. It’s easy to set up; just plug-in and go.

My computer didn’t have a USB 3.1 card, so I can’t comment on how fast is this Lacie. It took several days to download a 3.5 tera backup on USB 3.0. It is very slow with normal computers. On the other side, I haven’t dropped, splashed or exposed the drive to the winds of Sahara, so I can’t comment on its toughness. Only a couple of weeks with it.

I’ve used rugged drives for years for on-the-go road backups and quick offloads. It’s form factor and track record of successful backups will keep me coming back.

Solid back-up drive. A little slow for video editing, but great for backing up work.

I do travel photography, this 1TB LaCie external hard drive is my life source. I’m always super super busy so need something that can make my life a little easier and it does just that. Ide give it 10 stars if I could. Very portable, very easy to use and it can take a lot of abuse.

I’ve had a LaCie rugged in the past that worked wonderfully but I needed more space. This drive seemed to work OK at first even with a touchy cord, but after a few months, it’s making a clicking noise constantly and keeps unmounting. I even bought a new cord. I’m pretty disappointed. Not sure what to do since I can’t return it now.

Too slow.

I bought this to act as a master backup for my photos and some important documents. Once a week, I plug it in, transfer the data, unplug it, and store it in a safe. There are other ways to accomplish what I am doing, but this works for me. It’s a solid product backed by a solid reputation.

no issue, I love it. I use it with my Mac and Mac book pro. robes and nice. (I have been using the same product at my job too. no issue, all good)

Simple plug and play hard drive that’s speedy! I like the added rugged protector, which can be removed by the way. The bright orange color means it’ll be difficult to lose sight of. Only time will tell the reliability of the drive, but in the meantime, it’s been working great!

Ubiquitous orange drives still deliver, but slowly. Appreciate it includes USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables, but the transfer speeds are sluggish compared to everything else (as expected from a spinning disk). Great for incremental transfers, less ideal for large file transfers.

I have to add to the people who received one of these drives where the cable didn’t stay in the drive’s connector. The cable just fell out no matter how you inserted it.

This drive is extremely unreliable and slow. My new macbook pro always has a hard time detecting it. I brought two of these and both the drives behave the same. I did not have this issue with older versions of Lacie. In fact, my laptop still detects the older version alright. This drive is not suitable for any sort of professional work.
