After using two other brands of hard drives, both of which crashed and I spent over 700 each to get them restored, I decided to try a new brand. This came highly recommended by B&H staff, so because of that, and the small size, Im giving it a try. So far…no issues!

I bought two LaCie drives: a 2TB and a 4TB. I have several other HDs. Compared to these they stink. These drives are durable and super easy to use. Their construction makes them a little larger but worth it…just look at them and feel them. Great!

I’ve always been fond of LaCie hard drives in the past and my older model is doing well. Unfortunately this hard drive that I recently purchased does not do well with my new mac book. It self-ejects itself from my Macbook whenever my screen is idol for more than 15min, even when I have an adobe project open linked to it. Often disconnecting all the footage and leaving me without an option to save. I updated the external drive per LaCie’s suggestion but no luck as of now. Not at all a reflection on B&H, just a software hiccup that’s unfortunate.

I really like this drive because it feels very substantial. I love the thick rubber padding and design makes it feel very secure. Yes it is fast. I’d say Mustang fast but not Lambo fast! Works well for what I need.

I use them for daily backup when I travel and for offsite backup. Not as fast as an SSD but fast enough for what I use them for. I’ve never had a problem with any of them.

I am going on a cruise vacation, and will be packing a Chromebook to review and backup memory cards from three cameras. I will use the card reader to transfer video clips and photos from cameras to chromebook. And then from chrome book to hard drive. Have tested this process and it works great.

These are awesome! This is my 3rd one (because the other 2 are full). I highly recommend these to anyone needing a portable hard drive!

It’s lighter and smaller than I thought and I think it’s a perfect storage for my photography work.

These seem to be right in the sweet spot between speed and affordable. They’re convenient (you don’t have to plug them in), fast enough (there are much better SSDs that’ll allow you to edit 4K without a glitch), and affordable (faster SSDs are twice/3x the price) I still have not had any issues with them and continue to use them as my main backups for my fast SSDs. At the end of the day, we dump the SSD into these so that we can keep a redundancy. I don’t recommend them if you’ll be using them to edit huge footage directly on them, but do get them if you’re backed up and want to keep a dedicated drive for a project.

Very good, fast and small. I like the possibility that there is no need to plug this into an electrical outlet. Also, this is not heavy which is good when traveling with heavy photographic equipment.

Transfer speeds are a little slow but it’s a good drive.
