Designed for students, travelers, photographers, and videographers, the 5TB Rugged Mini USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from LaCie features shock, drop, and pressure resistance, as well as a rubber sleeve for added protection. It can also withstand up to one ton of crush resistance, including being driven over by a car. Aside from its tough exterior, the Rugged Mini provides a storage capacity of 5TB and data transfers of up to 130 MB/s. It connects to your host Windows or Mac system using its USB 3.0 interface and includes both USB Type-C and USB Type-A cables.

This compact yet rugged hard drive with 4 TB of storage is ideal for creating multiple partitions for backups. With the 5 partitions I’ve created I am able to do multiple backups for two Apple computers, using both the Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner apps. And B&H’s price was among the lowest on the web, as is usually the case.

One evening I was working on my (8 month old) drive. The next went to do the same and the drive started beeping. Hadn’t moved from the desk in that time. $1400 data recovery later and have some of the files back. My 2nd Lacie drive to die, I won’t be buying another.

The LaCie Rugged Mini HD lived up to it’s name. I recently went on vacation and used it to back up all my digital photos and videos. Once i received the drive, it was very simple to connect to my MacBook Pro. The speed was exceptional.

These babies last forever and don’t quit. As per my review title, the only reason I purchased this is because my 10+ year old lacie rugged is out of free space. But even my 10-year-old version is still going strong, outlasting 3 macbook pros, and I’ve never had an issue with it. I’ve had the new one for about a month and of course, it works perfectly. I was able to backup 3tb Imac/work dropbox with ease. I will continue to use it with time machine to do large regular backups. It is very small and seems very sturdy. The design by Neil Poulton is obv formally beautiful while being completely functionally sound. As for purchasing from B&H I would highly recommend buying any external hard drive from them because they have excellent online customer service, competitive pricing, and super fast reliable shipping. Nothing but positive experiences there.

You cant get it to work on a mac except for 10% of it if you partition it! CANT use for windows and mac! BEWARE MAC USERS!
