Designed for students, travelers, photographers, and videographers, the 5TB Rugged Mini USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from LaCie features shock, drop, and pressure resistance, as well as a rubber sleeve for added protection. It can also withstand up to one ton of crush resistance, including being driven over by a car. Aside from its tough exterior, the Rugged Mini provides a storage capacity of 5TB and data transfers of up to 130 MB/s. It connects to your host Windows or Mac system using its USB 3.0 interface and includes both USB Type-C and USB Type-A cables.

This little beastie isn’t as small as I would like but it’s a work horse. It’s fast and reasonably priced. I can edit HD video on the go and have had no latency issues or dropping of frames so I think it can handle most anything. The cable is relatively short so be prepared if you have a tight workspace like an airline tray table. While running my laptop on battery this drive also sucks up the power but is a worth while tool.

I would like for this system to have the cable linked to the drive. This is done on some of the other larger drives. If i had known I would have gone to the bigger one. That is an easy upsell team B& H

These mini drives are more portable than the regular Ruggeds. The mini is more limited in connection with only USB but that’s what I usually use anyway. At 5.25 x 3.5 x .75 these will just barely fit into a cheap case logic padded fabric zipper case. (A regular Rugged will not fit.) We use many of these drives – definitely our preferred portable. Fast and pretty durable. We have a some of these still being cleared and reused after 3 years. They do not slide off of desks with the grippy bumpers. Easy to format to whatever is needed.
