The protective edge makes it easy to pack and cary all my Lightroom work to any computer. This is a fast and reliable drive with lost of room. I have over the years bought and traveled with several Lacie Rugged drives and they are all working fine. This includes tracking in New Zealand and the the dost of Wales.

This drive has survived a couple weeks of travel, banging around in my backpack, and I anticipate it to continue to thrive based on other people’s reviews. Only negative is the cord connecting the drive to the computer is not a tight connection. I’ve bumped the edge of the drive and it’s disconnected (from the drive’s connection, the USB stays in fine). Always nerve wracking to yank a drive out of the computer.

This feels like a tank! It is quiet, was easy to set up on Mac OSX and feels like it can handle anything. This will be my go to HDD from now on.

Functions 100% with no glitches. I use it to back up four Macs (all with different operating systems). The rubber casing is a perfect design for portability.

I purchased this drive to store raw still image files while on extended travel. We use it to backup the raw files we plan to save as well as to keep from loading all files on the laptop we have with us because of its comparatively limited storage capacity. Whats great; 100% plug and play with our Macbook Pro, was downloading files to it within 2 minutes of taking it out of the box. USB 3 is very fast, uploaded 20GB of data to it from 3 SD cards in less than 15min. Design is simple and rugged. Whats not so great; The price was a tad higher than other 1TB drives but this was easily compatible with Mac and Windows and more importantly sported USB 3, rather than 2. You get what you pay for. If you have an aversion to the color orange either get some paint or go without the rubber ‘helmet’. I love orange so this goes in the Great category for me. Great product.

This is my first LaCie drive so I cannot speak to the long-term relaibility. But it has worked well after formatting the drive, transferring some data, and accessing the files multiple times. Shipping was fast and the product does feel like a tank with the metal casing and the rubber exterior.

I use this with HS students for video production, the drive is durable and reliable. The USB 3 cable is a foot or less this would be a bit longer, but it is a great drive.

I have been very happy with LaCie External HDs for cloning my iMac computer. This 2TB drive is perfect and works like a charm with Carbon Copy Cloner to backup my iMac desktop!

This little drive is very compact, I really like the design. The transfer speeds are fast, the casing build quality is excellent. There isn’t much I can say, really it does what I need it to do, and it does it well.
