Designed for students, travelers, photographers, and videographers, the 5TB Rugged Mini USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from LaCie features shock, drop, and pressure resistance, as well as a rubber sleeve for added protection. It can also withstand up to one ton of crush resistance, including being driven over by a car. Aside from its tough exterior, the Rugged Mini provides a storage capacity of 5TB and data transfers of up to 130 MB/s. It connects to your host Windows or Mac system using its USB 3.0 interface and includes both USB Type-C and USB Type-A cables.

Feels rugged and well protected. It’s relatively small size should make it very packable without taking up much space. Read and Write speeds are fast and plenty of storage space for my uses. Haven’t drop tested it and hope I never do, but should be fine from the advertised height or below.

Lots of room. No problems with my computer quickly recognizing it (unlike numerous other external hard drives I’ve used). Use them for long-term travel so the rugged body provides peace of mind. At this price, for this capacity and ease of use, it was well worth getting a second one in order to be sure many TBs of video and photo files are safely backed up.

Great hard drive. Size is perfect for storing and traveling. Never worry about damaging it although I’m never rough with my hard drives. The exterior coating makes me feel safe with it. non rugged hard drives make me nervous. Have never had a problem with any lacie hard drives

Using this hard drive for mostly for media storage and keeping working files on hand. You can feel that this drive is heavy-duty. I have only used it on macs and it is easy to install the software, and is plug and play with other computers

I ordered and am now using a LaCie 1TB Rugged Mini external hard drive for a number of reasons: I need to be able to travel with a reasonable amount of moving image that I can share with my co-editor (also a LaCie user), so the product is not only changing hands, but also has to sustain travel, in various contexts. My first LaCie back-up drive (20 years ago?) has survived all kinds of conditions, and many years of service, so I prefer to rely on brands that have served me well! It is honestly not portable, gone are those early days of bulky, heavy equipment, at least for me! I would buy another LaCie tomorrow if needed.
