A since of security when I’m in the field when I would like to have more backup other than the laptop and card, slides easily into my backpack pockets for easy transport.
Antonia Balistreri (verified owner) –
Compact, great for on the road photo backup.
Jeremy McGlynn (verified owner) –
Fast Shipping, great product, Good quality.

I am using as back-up drive to store my RAW files (and other data) at an off-site location. I wanted a drive that would transport safely. LaCie has a reputation for making good products.

I bought this in end of May so it’s been 1.5 months. The hard drive mysteriously erased all my data and a strange guitar app and music folder was there in place. These are apps I’ve never used. Thankfully Lacie’s teams provide free recovery software for the products. However the recovery data software, renames all the files so I had to painfully review and organize. Also it triplicates some of your files. I had 10 years worth of stuff so it was devastating. Most of it was recovered. I’m disappointed. Since the Lacie Rugged 2TB I’ve owned since 2017 has performed reliably. Not that this detail is significant as much as the functionality, but unlike my Lacie Rugged which came with a matching orange USB-C cord, you receive a generic black one with the Mini Rugged.

The hard drive didn’t immediately hooked up to my computer, but the people at LaCie were able to talk me through it. Now it works! its small and very fast.

I’m about to return the 2nd one that I ordered after I exchanged the 1st one. They were supposed to have 2TB, but they came w/ less than 1G. See screen grab. It’s such a waste of time.

I got one of these to run videos into my TV. I copied all my videos and music to it and hooked it up to my media player. Now I can play them on my TV. The drive stores all of my old documentaries and cartoon series, and I can play them back in HD. It’s also convenient to carry around, when needed.

These work as you’d expect. I have owned a number of these LaCie Rugged drives in various storage capacities over the years and have been fortunate that they’ve always been reliable. Primarily use them as shuttle/travel drives for 4k video shoots, however they suffice to edit from if necessary. Have dropped one from a couple feet and it continued to work upon reboot. These are my go to travel drives.

We use these frequently to share and transport data and also as a safety back up of documents and data. They have been historically very reliable and love the variety of storage options with different price point options
Meaghan Terry (verified owner) –
I have several of these drives although I mostly use the Western Digital, which are cheaper.
Laurel Bauch (verified owner) –
Rugged, reliable, excellent design, Love it
Domenic Satterfield (verified owner) –
Lots of space in a small package, takes wear and tear well, good choice.

Bought these as storage devices for high school students and several have already lost connectivity. Really disappointed. Looking for a reliable device so students can work on media projects at school in a lab environment and then work on them at home without having to upload/transfer 50gb at a time.
Shane Wolff (verified owner) –
Bought the hard drive mainly to store video and pictures. Although the transfer speed is slower I like that it is built strong and know if I’m traveling it won’t break in case it’s dropped. Good quality drive if you need for storage.
Aidan Grady (verified owner) –
I was able to shoot only once before my LaCie Rugged Hard Drive broke, and effectively lost all of my footage. Total waste.
Preston Ullrich (verified owner) –
After years of thunderbolt connection, I was little skeptical about its USB3 connection but the speed is supposingly fast. The top transfer speed is only achieved if you’d format for the Mac use.
Ressie Reinger (verified owner) –
Got it on sale and purchased another one for backup
Jennifer Mayer (verified owner) –
Speed and durability. And easily able to format it for multiple file systems. Need two more
Kaelyn Aufderhar (verified owner) –
We use this drive for the sole purpose of backing up our hard drive. It’s compact, attractive and does all the backup automatically.
