They last long, and can take a drop. Theyre not fast like current SSD drives but you cant beat it for the price

Solid, dependable drives. I have external drives made my Seagate, WD, Iomega, but these are my favorite. Consistently fast and durable, I continue to turn to these for their reliability. As a newspaper photographer I am often on the move, and I bring my laptop and drives with me many places. Knowing that these are pretty shockproof and able to stand up to bumping and daily use is great. I don’t abuse them, but I trust them more than a standard drive. Recommended!

I purchased this hard drive with the hopes that i could easily transfer all my information to it and i have trouble with it. Ended up having to take it to a specialist to get it to work properly for me. Be prepared to read the manual and find out hoe to really use it before diving in.

bought this for my MacBook Pro, was running out of space and decide to get it to travel and stored my pictures. rugged and firm. good quality

Like the ruggedness. Two minor negatives: 1. Disk is formatted as exFAT. Had to reformat to NTFS. 2. The backup process doesn’t give accurate response to the time it takes to backup.

This DOES work just fine on my MacBook Pro with Retina display running OS X Mountain Lion. Yes, when you plug it in the Lacie Setup Assistant does not work so you cannot open the drive, but all you have to do (per Lacie’s website regarding compatibility) is go to Utilities, DIsk Utility, then click on the disk and choose Erase on the right to format the drive. This turns it into just a regular external hard drive and I can transfer files to/from it just fine, and very quickly. OS X recognizes the drives as external and offers you the choice of using it as a backup device.

Its the worst HD that I ever had!!! Avoid a problem for you … buy WD!

I bought two of these drives for a small project on which I was working. They pretty much get the job done and I find them reliable. With previous drives off the same brand, I found the USB cables wore out easily, I hope it won’t be the same with this one.
Anabel McKenzie (verified owner) –
very resistant and easy to carry

I ordered it again after the first one failed under normal use. The drive is not recognized by any of my computers and says needs to be initialized. Just lost lots of info!

I’m going on a journey to find my next work location. I needed best price. Best product. Rugged. Good looking external drive. I am a shopper. I do not buy anything over priced or from just anybody. I will buy from B&H because they are also polite! Yes. Polite by saying on their website that they were gone and the item wouldn’t ship right away… Online communication that’s a bonus! Easy set up on my Mac Air and all other devices… but watch the partition deal. Unless your are a pro just keep the slider to one computer.. you’ll see when you set up. The product Lacie is my goto to all my drives…

I have had this for only a few weeks, but looking at the unit and the reputation of Lacie products, I am confident this unit will last a lomg time and work as advertised.

I used this on a recent visit to Alaska to back up RAW video footage. I can always count on LaCie for providing a rugged and reliable product I can trust.

This hard drive works very well for my purposes, which is mainly GoPro footage. I like the design, and it seems very sturdy. It has a noticeable vibration when being used, but I was informed that this is normal for large drives.
