While out photographing, in the digital age, you need to backup your files to make sure you won’t loose them before you get home. This little hard disk does wonders with its USB 3.0 connector and it’s rubber bumper insures that even if you are a little unlucky and let it fall on the floor, your work will still be there ! A must have while on the go.

LaCie is always solid and dependable especially for the price point, though they don’t have the fastest transfer speeds compared to some high end drives.

I am horrible at technology. When I called to discuss this product the representative was not only friendly but extremely helpful and went out of his way to make sure that I would receive the best product for my needs. I have an extremely old laptop and I needed a product that would have the correct USB cables to hook up to that and my current. The product was not advertised to also have a USB 2.0 but the representative went through all of the reading looked at my computer and found that it was compatible. If I was more text savvy this probably would’ve been easy for me to do but since I’m not I greatly appreciate it. When I received my package it was intact it’s nice and compact and just says it states rugged. The transfer of all of my files went smoothly and quicker than what was expected due to the age of my old laptop. I am extremely happy I purchased this product.

I purchased my computer almost 6 years ago, and with very little memory, I ran out of space to store things. I discovered this compact portable hard drive online and I am so glad I did. The set up is quick and easy, the body is compact and protected, and the memory capacity is incredible for the price. Super glad I made this purchase.

Great portable design. This is currently being used to shuttle large video files between our PBS station and other member stations nearby. Survives regular trips through the mail and is large enough capacity to ferry an entire season of programming if need be.

I had 3 drives and all have failed me even the ones they sent as replacements.

I have a laptop with a rather small, 370-GB hard drive. I take a lot of photographs and in the last year or so having been shooting in RAW (about 17 MB per image) instead of JPG (about 4 MB per image). This new habit filled up my hard drive quite rapidly. This LaCie product is the perfect external-drive answer to my problem: 2TB should last me a long time, it’s small, and by itself rugged enough to be carried in my laptop’s case by itself (no need for an optional hard case). It looks cool too.

This rugged and huge hard drive is perfect for my teenager interested in video editing and going into high school. She can sling it into her backpack and drag it around the neighborhood or hop on buses and head to friends’ houses or the library. Anywhere she can plug into a Mac, she can access all her files that aren’t on the cloud. She was pleased to receive the gift but doesn’t yet know the advantages it is going to bring her. I expect she will soon find out!

I usually buy Rugged LaCie drives if possible. They are a bit more expensive, but reliable and durable. They are great for using with clients, especially if shipping. I bought the 500GB for a client, but I think it’s worth the price to get a 1TB. Great for Mac’s and PC’s.

Always had lacie hard drives. This one died in less than 5 months. I was editing a wedding. Went to mount it and it scratched and clicked and wouldn’t mount. Nothing even traumatic happened to the drive. Nothing should have been corrupted. It never even left my desk. Furious.

Have several I use for backup because they always work.

I recently purchased two LaCie external drives. They both worked very well, and were reasonably priced.

I think it is amazing that this device is so small and can hold so much data. I look forward to taking the Lacie Rugged Mini with me on the road for work trips. It is much better than trying to put many docs on multiple zip drives, it removes the confusion of which zip a doc is saved on.

Great storage solution for media on the go or when your internal drive is full.

This has been great so far. Just holding it you feel confident it will be reliable for years to come. I will likely make Lacie products my standard.

While I’m editing a job, everything for that job goes on this drive… and you can pretty much edit anywhere.

Use these to keep types of jobs separate (video/audio)
