Take a second screen with you as you travel with the ThinkVision M14 14" 16:9 Portable IPS/LCD Monitor from Lenovo. For the professional who needs a second monitor that doesn’t take up too much space, all you need is a laptop or smartphone with a USB Type-C connection that supports DisplayPort 1.2 alt-mode and Power Delivery 2.0. Draft documents on your laptop with this monitor as your reference point, or use it for media while you write.
This secondary display gives you a crisp 1920 x 1080 resolution with a 60 Hz refresh rate and a 6 ms response time for a smooth visual experience. This In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel gives you a 178/178° viewing angle, 16.7 million colors, a 700:1 contrast ratio, and a 300 cm/d² brightness level for deep colorization and vivid imagery.

The monitor is lightweight and super easy to use. I wish the graphics could be larger.

I love this portable monitor! It’s very sleek and lightweight. The quality of the imaging is also very good.

I purchased this to use when I am working away from my desk to maintain the efficiency gain of a second monitor. This monitor works fantastically for that. The monitor is extremely light, the screen is bright, and the single USB C for power and display keeps everything easy to set up and tear down.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) It is easy to set up and have a nice screen. The monitor even have eye protection option, which is a plus.

I have a lenovo laptop so this truly was a plug and play experience. The only issue I had was it was mirroring my laptop monitor rather than being detected as a second monitor. I had to make my display orientation be landscape and select extend these displays to make it go across both monitors. Then it functioned perfectly. I am so happy I bought it for use when traveling. Once I got the display settings sorted, it takes all of 30 seconds to pull out and plug in and go now. My productivity would have died without it.

Love having a second monitor wherever I go. Good brightness, easy setup, only uses 1

Bought this for travel and it’s perfect for that – sharp, no visible lag, cooperates with normal display drivers (no issues screen sharing, etc.). No problems and highly recommended.

This portable monitor is absolutely perfect. I spent many weeks looking and browsing before settling on this one. From its portability to its perfect size to literally opening the box. Plugging it in and going. This is the perfect monitor for the person on then go!

I didn’t realize how much I needed this until I had it. I’m currently recovering from a back injury and have to work from bed. It’s been a serious challenge without a regular monitor to extend my laptop screen. I can plug this in and sit it on the bed, move it to my lap, prop it against a pillow, move it to the couch, even hold it over my head if necessary. And the ability to travel with it will make working away from home so much easier as well.

Incredibly easy to set up, sharp screen and lightweight.

It’s the portable monitor you need. Light-weight and portable, with enough brightness and clarity it can be the second screen of the laptop anytime. Love it. However, sometimes the screen feels like too thin that I fear damaging it accidently.

The screen has better quality than my laptop. The only qualm I have is that there is minimal protection on the screen. For being portable, it would be nice to have a bit of protection that folds over the screen. Fortunately, they provided a felt sleeve.

This screen is excellent. Very portable and makes working outside of the office much easier. That being said, frequent connection issues at start up due to the cable provided.

I used this for travel. I’m getting my masters in business analytics and really enjoy the lightweight, functional convenience of the second screen.

Super slim and easy to connect, only works with new models because it need appropriate usb-c power.

Small but extremely high quality image. Very lightweight and with the included cover, very portable. It simply works

I needed a compact, simple, high-quality, secondary display to sit beside my main monitor. I very much wanted a portable monitor, but not to actually carry around with me, just not an ordinary display with the clutter of power cord/stand/etc. It will mostly be sitting in one place, but the nature of my work involves frequent changes to all the hardware connected to my system, so a degree of portability is great. What I also didn’t really want was the usual origami case/cover/stand that comes with most portable monitors. I think they’re great, but just not right for this particular usage. Before the Lenovo I tried an Asus Zenscreen, which was pretty awesome, but had a battery (great for true portable use!) but wouldn’t power-up if the battery needed charging, which is a hassle I don’t need. The Asus also had an HDMI input, which the Lenovo lacks, and also built-in speakers (if I recall correctly). Again, for true portable use, the speakers are almost a must-have, so for some people the Lenovo won’t fit the bill. The lack of HDMI support is a little disappointing, for sure, but even though I would have made use of it, it also wasn’t a deal breaker (for me). So, yes, if all you need is the display, and your computer/device supports video over USB-C, this is a great option. Minor gripe is the straight plug and length of the supplied USB-C cable. A right-angled plug and another foot or so of length would have been much better. I had to buy a separate cable, and (as I discovered the hard way!) not many USB-C cables support the alt mode of Displayport-over-USB, and the correct cable wasn’t cheap! For me, in this particular scenario, this Lenovo is pretty much perfect. For some people it may be a little too basic, so for those people I’d say try the Asus.

Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that my laptop was not compatible with the ThinkVision M14 Monitor when I ordered it. My laptop has a standard USB port only, and no amount of trying to daisy chain adapters together could make the M14 Monitor work with it. But this isn’t the fault of the Monitor, rather an oversight on my part. From what I could tell from the brief time the Monitor powered on, the screen appears crisp and bright, and it should work with a laptop that has a USB-c port.
