Take performance on the go with the graphite gray 15.6″ IdeaPad 5 Laptop from Lenovo. Designed for work or play, the IdeaPad 5 sports a 1 GHz Intel Core i5-1035G1 quad-core CPU and 8GB of DDR4 RAM for punchy processing. An ample 512GB SSD can accommodate user files, including a video or photo library. Need more storage? This laptop also features an empty 2.5″ SATA III bay that can accommodate an HDD or SSD for even more storage space. Wired peripherals can be connected to two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports or a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port supporting power delivery. Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity is also present, allowing users to connect wireless peripherals as well. And, with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, in addition to 2×2 dual-band support, users can take advantage of faster internet speeds and stronger connections compared to older Wi-Fi 5.
Employing a 15.6″ 1920 x 1080 TN display with a 135° hinge, the IdeaPad 5 features integrated Intel UHD Graphics and can extend or mirror content to additional displays via the USB Type-C or HDMI 1.4b ports. Media can be accessed via a 4-in-1 card reader that supports MMC, SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory cards. And, with a 1MP HD webcam, dual-array microphone, and integrated speaker system, users can easily videoconference at home or out and about. When the webcam is not in use, you can even block the lens with a privacy shutter, ensuring privacy. Further safety measures include power-on, HDD, and supervisor passwords, as well as a dedicated TPM chip and touch-style fingerprint reader. In addition to a touchpad, the user interface includes a backlit keyboard with a number pad. This laptop features an integrated battery that can last for up 12 hours on a single charge. The Lenovo 15.6" IdeaPad 5 runs on the Windows 10 Home Operating System.

As an IT guy I have always recommended and owned Thinkpads, it might be the matte screens as well as the rest of the package. When the 8 Year old T230 started showing its age I felt it was time. Since we are all living in caves these days the Ideapad 5 had the full sized (Think Light) backlit KB. The SSD is a first for me, I wish I did this when SSD’s came out, but…I’m glad I waited. It’s everything the Think Pad represents…and there is a USB C Dock available! Real good sound and being WiFi 6 I’m ready for the future IoT (my ISP launched a WiFi 6 fiber router this week). The powered 3.2 USB has nothing to hold back with it being the new standard. HDMI and the USB C port available for charging lowers the travel footprint. The camera shutter is a nice detail… It fits in my laptop back pack fine even with the built in number pad. I’m extremely pleased with the price to upgrade my life. Everything is real fast. There is no more waiting to boot or recover from sleep.

Check the USB port for uniformity. Port one seems to not fit the USB’s well

Nice laptop but fans are a bit loud. Options to reduce fan noise also hurt performance a good deal.

My first Ideapad series laptop. Started loving it too. I have been using the Thinkpad for so long and I never want to switch to other brands. Lenovo earned my trust.

Much different than the Lenovo’s of past! I love this laptop, it’s thin, it’s light, it’s fast, and the graphics are good for the average user. (I don’t use for gaming). The keyboard takes some getting used too – the keystrokes are very small, which I’ve come to appreciate. Having the number pad is a fantastic bonus. Overall I love this laptop.

The charger and cable are shorter, and smaller gauge cable. The idea to connect the charger directly to the outlet makes it cumbersome

Nice screen size backed by impressive CPU, RAM (memory) and 512 GB drive. Battery life so far has been exceptional, but too early yet to call that a victory. Very much appreciate the USB-C connection for power (have had several laptops that stopped working because you couldn’t charge them with the round power cable). Only complaint so far is that the touchscreen has stopped working on numerous occasions and I’ve had to reboot to get that back; not sure if this is a driver issue or something else. For the price a solid laptop, especially if I can get a decent amount of use out of it (3+ years). Just purchased, so will keep my fingers crossed.

I have to admit it has a good amount of space. But, it’s amazing to use. The only complaint I have is battery life can be drained and it takes a while to charge but with the rapid charge setting it jumps quite quickly. There are also many other functions that I appreciate such as the integrated cooling system they have so my laptop doesn’t overheat but, otherwise for simple tasks it’s an amazing laptop to use.

I am enjoying IdeaPad a great deal. The keypad is very comfortable and it is a great weight for teleworking in the backyard. I miss having a touch screen is my only issue.

Love it! It’s quick out of the box. Once McAfee is off it’s perfect for me. It runs photoshop and illustrator with ease.
