Take performance on the go with the graphite gray 15.6″ IdeaPad 5 Laptop from Lenovo. Designed for work or play, the IdeaPad 5 sports a 1 GHz Intel Core i5-1035G1 quad-core CPU and 8GB of DDR4 RAM for punchy processing. An ample 512GB SSD can accommodate user files, including a video or photo library. Need more storage? This laptop also features an empty 2.5″ SATA III bay that can accommodate an HDD or SSD for even more storage space. Wired peripherals can be connected to two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports or a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port supporting power delivery. Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity is also present, allowing users to connect wireless peripherals as well. And, with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, in addition to 2×2 dual-band support, users can take advantage of faster internet speeds and stronger connections compared to older Wi-Fi 5.
Employing a 15.6″ 1920 x 1080 TN display with a 135° hinge, the IdeaPad 5 features integrated Intel UHD Graphics and can extend or mirror content to additional displays via the USB Type-C or HDMI 1.4b ports. Media can be accessed via a 4-in-1 card reader that supports MMC, SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory cards. And, with a 1MP HD webcam, dual-array microphone, and integrated speaker system, users can easily videoconference at home or out and about. When the webcam is not in use, you can even block the lens with a privacy shutter, ensuring privacy. Further safety measures include power-on, HDD, and supervisor passwords, as well as a dedicated TPM chip and touch-style fingerprint reader. In addition to a touchpad, the user interface includes a backlit keyboard with a number pad. This laptop features an integrated battery that can last for up 12 hours on a single charge. The Lenovo 15.6" IdeaPad 5 runs on the Windows 10 Home Operating System.

I have a Pixelbook that I love, but discovered there are many Zoom features that are not supported on that device. I bought this Lenovo as my “teaching” computer and thought I would likely just use it for that purpose. However, it is so fast and so easy to use that I sadly have not powered up my Pixelbook from the moment I bought this computer. Everything in my life is Google, and it works really well with it all. On Zoom, my students have definitely benefited from the speed and improved internet connectivity of this machine. It has changed my online teaching experience!

The screen quality and battery life exceed any similar unit we previously used. Seems decent, nice finish, quick start The prior brightness settings do not stay once you recharge your computer. For example, lets say brightness is on a 50% setting. After charging the computer goes to max brightness. So then you have to lower your brightness through the function keys. It is a once second annoyance, so not a big deal. Also seems to operate like a chrome book in that you flip open the screen and the laptop just starts to turn on without you pressing the “on” button”. Not sure if this a glitch or it was designed to do that. Price was good (500). Have not used computer for much except for email and youtube so it has only been put through light use.

Overall quite pleased with my Lenovo IdeaPad 5. It was fairly easy to migrate files from my old laptop. Speed of this computer is much better than my previous laptop. Biggest issue is with getting the webcam and microphone to work for Zoom and Skype sessions.

We had a couple of family calls, but laptop only recognizes the audio of the person sitting right in front of the camera, I sat on 80 angle and system did not recognize my voice at all. 2. Also, this one is having issues recognizing the USB, I have to restart my USB several times.
