Take performance on the go with the graphite gray 15.6″ IdeaPad 5 Laptop from Lenovo. Designed for work or play, the IdeaPad 5 sports a 1 GHz Intel Core i5-1035G1 quad-core CPU and 8GB of DDR4 RAM for punchy processing. An ample 512GB SSD can accommodate user files, including a video or photo library. Need more storage? This laptop also features an empty 2.5″ SATA III bay that can accommodate an HDD or SSD for even more storage space. Wired peripherals can be connected to two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports or a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port supporting power delivery. Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity is also present, allowing users to connect wireless peripherals as well. And, with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, in addition to 2×2 dual-band support, users can take advantage of faster internet speeds and stronger connections compared to older Wi-Fi 5.
Employing a 15.6″ 1920 x 1080 TN display with a 135° hinge, the IdeaPad 5 features integrated Intel UHD Graphics and can extend or mirror content to additional displays via the USB Type-C or HDMI 1.4b ports. Media can be accessed via a 4-in-1 card reader that supports MMC, SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory cards. And, with a 1MP HD webcam, dual-array microphone, and integrated speaker system, users can easily videoconference at home or out and about. When the webcam is not in use, you can even block the lens with a privacy shutter, ensuring privacy. Further safety measures include power-on, HDD, and supervisor passwords, as well as a dedicated TPM chip and touch-style fingerprint reader. In addition to a touchpad, the user interface includes a backlit keyboard with a number pad. This laptop features an integrated battery that can last for up 12 hours on a single charge. The Lenovo 15.6" IdeaPad 5 runs on the Windows 10 Home Operating System.

So far, this has been a really great investment. I usually purchase Dells, but wanted to “upgrade” as my home computer is now doing double duty as a work computer as well. I am a bit disappointed that the battery life is shorter than expected – less than 7 hours sometimes, depending on what I am doing. I notice, too, that if the battery goes too low, the computer will freeze if left unattended. I will have to shut down completely and restart. The keyboard is great, however, and the size of the screen are perfect. I like the no glare and the back light. It’s a good computer, but I can’t say so far that it has been better than the half priced Dells. It’s still new, however, so we’ll see how long it lasts.

My laptop has been an awesome upgrade for me. When I was in college my Lenovo G780 was my best friend. It could withstand running just about any program. This Lenovo Ideapad5 came at just the right time, it comes equipped with all the features I needed and some, the touch screen capabilities make it an awesome laptop to utilize for presentation, and on top of everything the build of it is very sturdy. I am very pleased so far with this laptop and will come back to review it in a year or so!

It works great, it’s super fast at loading and it’s almost always cool. Sometimes it gets very hot and the fan doesn’t want to kick in, but it’s no problem if you’re not doing anything intensive or let the computer cool down. The screen also changes brightness on it’s own, and I see no way to turn it off. It’s usually not a bother though, just slightly annoying. Aside from this, the computer is great, and I hope it lasts for a long time. Decent battery, fast loading, good storage, perfect for work and light play.

Awesome purchase for the price. For under $1000, it has i7 processor, 16mb ram, touch screen, led keyboard and an actual shutter cover for the camera for privacy. Hdd is only 512gb but for its intented purpose, that’s enough. Laptop is also lighter than I imagined which was a pleasant surprise.

Extremely wonderful computer and felt-like keyboard. The screen is anti-glare and its colors are crisp and vibrant. I would only slightly change its accessories: the charger cord could be slightly longer; the charger plug should fold into itself so it can be stored easily as a rectangle (even if it would mean a larger plug); and the privacy shutter should be easier to move side to side. All of this, luckily, is just small wishes and not actual inconveniences.

The speakers sound like mono. I was about to return it because I thought one of the speakers does not work. I then checked further and noticed that if you sit to the left of the laptop you can hear both speakers. The placement of speakers is very poorly engineered.
