Take performance on the go with the graphite gray 15.6″ IdeaPad 5 Laptop from Lenovo. Designed for work or play, the IdeaPad 5 sports a 1 GHz Intel Core i5-1035G1 quad-core CPU and 8GB of DDR4 RAM for punchy processing. An ample 512GB SSD can accommodate user files, including a video or photo library. Need more storage? This laptop also features an empty 2.5″ SATA III bay that can accommodate an HDD or SSD for even more storage space. Wired peripherals can be connected to two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports or a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port supporting power delivery. Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity is also present, allowing users to connect wireless peripherals as well. And, with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, in addition to 2×2 dual-band support, users can take advantage of faster internet speeds and stronger connections compared to older Wi-Fi 5.
Employing a 15.6″ 1920 x 1080 TN display with a 135° hinge, the IdeaPad 5 features integrated Intel UHD Graphics and can extend or mirror content to additional displays via the USB Type-C or HDMI 1.4b ports. Media can be accessed via a 4-in-1 card reader that supports MMC, SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory cards. And, with a 1MP HD webcam, dual-array microphone, and integrated speaker system, users can easily videoconference at home or out and about. When the webcam is not in use, you can even block the lens with a privacy shutter, ensuring privacy. Further safety measures include power-on, HDD, and supervisor passwords, as well as a dedicated TPM chip and touch-style fingerprint reader. In addition to a touchpad, the user interface includes a backlit keyboard with a number pad. This laptop features an integrated battery that can last for up 12 hours on a single charge. The Lenovo 15.6" IdeaPad 5 runs on the Windows 10 Home Operating System.

When my 11-year old Sony Vaio finally ran out of memory, I went looking for a new laptop, and was sad to discover Sony no longer makes laptops. I have had a Sony for my entire adult life. Fortunately, the Lenovo 15IIL05 81YK ticked all of my boxes (Intel i7 processor, 16GB RAM, FHD Display, 512 GB SSD hard drive) for a fraction of the cost of other brands, and I have been happy with it so far although given how old my previous device is, likely anything current would have been an improvement. I like the full keyboard and the display is nice and bright. Keys are isolated and have a gentle tap response. The fan is super quiet, even moreso than my work MacAir which I was a bit surprised about. I’ll be curious it that holds true if I start running some computer games on the device as well. Most importantly, the bootup and response time is great! I have two minor critiques so far. First, the matte finish of the device around the trackpad picks up oil from my skin very easily. Within days it became very obvious where I rest my hands, and for that reason I wish the finish was a bit glossier so it wasn’t so obvious. And second, the trackpad itself feels very grainy to the touch. I’m unsure if there is just something on it that I cannot get rid of or if that feeling is by design. If this laptop was white or silver… it might just be perfect!

Everything works well, the matte screen was definitely the right choice. Sometimes when you click on a tab it pulls out into a new window, but that’s a mild annoyance at worst. The keyboard lights up when you turn it on, which is fun.

Perfect for what I need. II was introduced to Lenovo when working in IT and have always appreciated the ThinkPad series. Now I am a small business owner and need to be able to manage my inventory, timecards, etc. while on the move. Many options are very pricey for the type of work I do daily. I don’t need great graphics or sound. Just a quick PC that doesn’t have issues. This laptop was first and foremost affordable, and it has plenty of speed for what I need. I made a docking station that allows me to sync to my backup drive and dual monitors making this equivalent to a larger machine when I need to work on larger projects. This is the second Lenovo IdeaPad I have purchased. Both are still running to manage our shops.
