Take performance on the go with the graphite gray 15.6″ IdeaPad 5 Laptop from Lenovo. Designed for work or play, the IdeaPad 5 sports a 1 GHz Intel Core i5-1035G1 quad-core CPU and 8GB of DDR4 RAM for punchy processing. An ample 512GB SSD can accommodate user files, including a video or photo library. Need more storage? This laptop also features an empty 2.5″ SATA III bay that can accommodate an HDD or SSD for even more storage space. Wired peripherals can be connected to two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports or a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port supporting power delivery. Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity is also present, allowing users to connect wireless peripherals as well. And, with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, in addition to 2×2 dual-band support, users can take advantage of faster internet speeds and stronger connections compared to older Wi-Fi 5.
Employing a 15.6″ 1920 x 1080 TN display with a 135° hinge, the IdeaPad 5 features integrated Intel UHD Graphics and can extend or mirror content to additional displays via the USB Type-C or HDMI 1.4b ports. Media can be accessed via a 4-in-1 card reader that supports MMC, SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory cards. And, with a 1MP HD webcam, dual-array microphone, and integrated speaker system, users can easily videoconference at home or out and about. When the webcam is not in use, you can even block the lens with a privacy shutter, ensuring privacy. Further safety measures include power-on, HDD, and supervisor passwords, as well as a dedicated TPM chip and touch-style fingerprint reader. In addition to a touchpad, the user interface includes a backlit keyboard with a number pad. This laptop features an integrated battery that can last for up 12 hours on a single charge. The Lenovo 15.6" IdeaPad 5 runs on the Windows 10 Home Operating System.

A good laptop but many cons. First, the charger cable for the laptop is very short and the actual power supply is very large and connected to the wall plug, so it is sometimes to large or too heavy to plug into some outlets. Second, the battery life isn’t too great. I would only last about 2-3 hours on a full charge before having to charge it again. And I can’t use it while I’m charging it because the cable is so short. Viewing angles are also not great. Good for school work though.

It’s a pretty powerful and light workstation. The screen on the laptop isn’t amazing, but it satisfies (and a monitor is easy to hook up). Be aware, there are only two usb ports so I’d recommend an extender. It’s a nice laptop that is worth what you spend on it, just with some minor flaws.

Had the laptop for a little more than a month and it’s working well. Start up time is pretty quick and apps run pretty smoothly too. The small downside is that the fan is louder and can get warm quickly. It’s good for doing daily work and browsing.

I recently purchased this Ideapad 5 (16Gb) for my study purpose. The first time I used it, I heard the noise of its breathing which I think should not be the case for a NEW laptop. My old Yoga laptop for 8 years doesn’t even make noise. Then the second time I used it, the touchpad freeze (didn’t let me restart, had to shutdown and open again) and the screen turned black sometimes without any notice. I can’t imagine how bad it can be if this happens during my online exams!!! This will be my last time with Lenovo.
