An ample 512GB SSD can accommodate user files, including a video or photo library. Need more storage? This laptop also features an empty 2.5″ SATA III bay that can accommodate an HDD or SSD for even more storage space. Wired peripherals can be connected to two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports or a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port supporting power delivery. When the webcam is not in use, you can even block the lens with a privacy shutter, ensuring privacy. Further safety measures include power-on, HDD, and supervisor passwords, as well as a dedicated TPM chip and touch-style fingerprint reader. In addition to a touchpad, the user interface includes a backlit keyboard with a number pad. This laptop features an integrated battery that can last for up 12 hours on a single charge. It’s a good product, but the touchpad is a little hypersensitive, and the keyboard layout is a little strange. Also, the vantage app is annoying.

I was in search of a replacement laptop since my MacBook Pro was crashing unexpectedly. However, Apple’s new Macbooks, although nicely designed in being slim and light weight, had many of the ports, standard USB, HMDI, and SD slot, I required which meant I had to purchase an additional hub at an extra cost. No way! I found the IdealPad Lenovo had all the ports PLUS the USB-C AND the design is also lightweight and thin… one can still have it all when paying at a reasonable price!

My wife loves her new IdeaPad 5. Easy to use and our Office 365 subscription easily transferred to the IdeaPad. The number of ports was a necessity for her. She loves it!

I had to buy this in a hurry because my previous Lenovo “retired” rather suddenly after 4 1/2 years. Generally I was happy with my previous device so I stuck with the Lenovo brand. There were a few hiccups initially like not being able to figure out why the camera was so blurry. (Because there was a tiny black tape with an even tinier red tab over it. I had to get a flashlight to discover this and remove the tape.) The display is bright and easy on the eyes. What I really don’t like is that there are only 2 USB ports. I need one for my wireless keyboard and mouse. That only leaves one for my backup drive which I’ll then have to change out occasionally with the mirror drive to keep that up to date. I know folks say you can use Bluetooth for your mouse and keyboard but they are just painfully slow and jerky, and I don’t have patience for that. I also am not fond of the bulky power converter that plugs directly into my power strip and does not have the 3-pronged plug. If I had had more time to research I might have chosen something else, but this will work and hopefully last at least 4 1/2 years.

Love the large keyboard and screen. Very portable. Some have complained about screen being dim, but I have not seen it as an issue.
