a capable printer but got sticker shock when I had to order cartridges!

It truly is a full-function machine. It’s a color printer, color copier, scanner and FAX unit in a very compact package. It produces much higher quality output than the inkjet printers and with much greater speed — takes less than 11 seconds per page in either color or black and white. It also is very reasonably priced. This is my second Lexmark color laser multi-function machine — my first one lasted over ten years of heavy use. The quality of the Lexmark units speaks for itself.
