Description
The silver GP65NS60 Portable USB External DVD Burner and Drive from LG allows you to read and write on DVDs and CDs with your computer. This drive connects to your Windows or Mac computer via USB. It features 8x DVD and 24x CD read and write speeds. To offer a better movie experience while watching a DVD, this drive provides Silent Play technology, which automatically adjusts the read speed to reduce its noise level. In addition, this drive supports TV connectivity with optional hardware. It also has Jamless Play so you can watch videos continuously by skipping over erroneous data or damaged areas of the disc that may stop your video. Furthermore, this drive can use M-Discs (DVD+R SL only), which provides data protection by using a patented rock-like recording surface instead of organic dye to etch your data onto a disc. Along with the drive are software programs that include Power2Go, PowerBackup, YouCam, LabelPrint, and Norton Internet Security (60 days).

Does the job…copying my CDs to my internal drive. It’s rather delicate, almost flimsy, CD drawer – feels like it may snap when handling it. Instructions are for Windows only, and sparse. Otherwise, it’s doing the job I need it to do.

Works just as described, and I actually like this better than Apple’s Superdrive (I have both) because this has a physical eject button as opposed to Apple’s drive not having one. Plug and play, can’t be any easier than this.

Needed a DVD drive to rip some of my collection for digital access. Even though it’s USB 2.0, my iMac is able to rip DVDs faster than my old computer with a built-in optical drive, so I can’t imagine the transfer is bottlenecking it too much. Other than that, it does what it needs to do at a great value price.

First of all this product is carefully pack in a box with protective foam around it to prevent damage. Nice! The Drive is made mostly of plastic – but for the price – what would one expect. More importantly it WORKS. It also comes with a USB cable and Instruction Disc – though I skipped the Disc and just plugged it in. Simple. Happy!

No muss, no fuss; just plugged it into my ancient MacBook Pro and it worked like a champ. Having just paid twice as much for an apple external CD drive that turned out to be incompatible with my MacBook Pro, I offer this as one more example of how Apple has lost its way. For crying out loud Tim Cooke, can’t you make a CD drive that works with all your laptops, not just the overpriced new ones with so many quirks and limitations? I’m a radio disc jockey and import tons of new and out of print CDs into my library; too bad apple can’t offer a product as good as this one despite charging twice as much.

Bought this about a month ago when I upgraded my computer and it did not have DVD capability which I need. The GP65NS60 is small and compact, runs quietly, does what it is supposed to do and meets my needs. It was plug and play on my IMAC and has performed flawlessly. A very good product.
