Description
The silver GP65NS60 Portable USB External DVD Burner and Drive from LG allows you to read and write on DVDs and CDs with your computer. This drive connects to your Windows or Mac computer via USB. It features 8x DVD and 24x CD read and write speeds. To offer a better movie experience while watching a DVD, this drive provides Silent Play technology, which automatically adjusts the read speed to reduce its noise level. In addition, this drive supports TV connectivity with optional hardware. It also has Jamless Play so you can watch videos continuously by skipping over erroneous data or damaged areas of the disc that may stop your video. Furthermore, this drive can use M-Discs (DVD+R SL only), which provides data protection by using a patented rock-like recording surface instead of organic dye to etch your data onto a disc. Along with the drive are software programs that include Power2Go, PowerBackup, YouCam, LabelPrint, and Norton Internet Security (60 days).

No instructions for Mac user. The whole software and instructions are all geared for Windows. The 800 phone number mac users are to call for help, don’t waste your time. Your computer will be out of date before they answer.

I bought this to play videos on my computer and it works great. It also shows that it can be used with a TV but I found only for digital video like MP4s, not DVDs. Not a problem for me but the documentation was not clear.

This unit has progressively gotten slower when burning DVDs. It take 3 times longer than a Samsung drive used to burn the same file on the same windows 10 computer.

This external drive does it all very well and at an unbeatable price. Quality is what I expect of LG. The only small quibble I have is that the included software works fine, but contains a few too many sub programs that add a bit of bloat to my computer. I guess that’s a small price to pay for a light, inexpensive, high quality burner drive.

Call me a dinosaur but in these days of thinner laptops and tablets, I miss the CD/DVD drive. I still use CD’s for music and information, and my laptop (among other faults) has no drive. This little beauty solves the problem. Easy to install, small enough to fit in a pocket much less a computer bag or a suitcase, it is a problem solver. I don’t use it all the time – but when I do it’s there, it works, and I can depend on it. Price is more than fair, I have received more in value of service than I paid for it many times over.
