The silver GP65NS60 Portable USB External DVD Burner and Drive from LG allows you to read and write on DVDs and CDs with your computer. This drive connects to your Windows or Mac computer via USB. It features 8x DVD and 24x CD read and write speeds. To offer a better movie experience while watching a DVD, this drive provides Silent Play technology, which automatically adjusts the read speed to reduce its noise level. In addition, this drive supports TV connectivity with optional hardware. It also has Jamless Play so you can watch videos continuously by skipping over erroneous data or damaged areas of the disc that may stop your video. Furthermore, this drive can use M-Discs (DVD+R SL only), which provides data protection by using a patented rock-like recording surface instead of organic dye to etch your data onto a disc. Along with the drive are software programs that include Power2Go, PowerBackup, YouCam, LabelPrint, and Norton Internet Security (60 days).

Only used once though to check if it really works. It worked but loud humming noise when playing home-made DVD or CD. Music CDs work fine and does not have that loud humming.

I got the GP65NB60 Portable USB External DVD Burner and Drive by LG, to supplement my new Computer that had no Optical Drive. I chose the LG for both it’s Specs and Price. It was recognized immediately by my computer when I plugged it in. The Optical Drive Copied and read files Flawlessly. Noise was not a factor for me as long as the Hardware does what it is was designed to do. I would reccomend this Optical Drive to anyone who needs an Inexpensive External Optical Drive

hardest part was figuring out Windows Media Player. Perfect for ripping some CDs from many moons ago

I bought the LG external because I wanted to try it out before sending it, but what turned out another one, to my brother, who has a Mac Laptop without any DVD/CD reader built in. I read the previous reviews and was concerned with the lesser star ratings, noisy, cheap ect. It seems to work and was easy to setup with the included CD which also registers it for you. I also use a Mac Laptop and to be doubly sure I bought a ‘c’ type USB adapter for me but he didn’t one for his Mac.

for me it works but it sometimes skips files on a disc i think it may be because jamless play is also affecting data discs if there is a way to fix this i will give 5 stars

My Apple external DVD Burner died after no more than two hours total time. A lot of money for the bitten apple. This GP65NS60 worked right out of the box, and now has more total time on it than my Apple player.

I actually own an LG burner (desktop external) and it’s worked perfectly, but I was looking for one that’s small, and I can throw into my bag, because since I DJ with my tablet, it doesn’t have a burner, and lately I’ve been having a lot of independent artists come to me with music on CD and this has gotten the job done. I’ve been asked to burn a quick CD or my love mixing and again, has worked out perfectly! No issues what-so-ever.

This drive has worked flawlessly to write a few CDs on a modern Windows 10 laptop.
Christine Braun (verified owner) –
It’s light and works well, but it’s super noisy even when it’s just reading a disk.

Solves the problem of new computer not having a CD/DVD drive, at a reasonable price.
Keshawn Reinger (verified owner) –
This device works very well, is easy to use and does everything you could ask for from an external drive.
Chanel Dare (verified owner) –
works fine, Software included trail use only

I got this because my newly purchased laptop didn’t include a disk media drive. I plugged it into the USB port with the included cable, and the machine immediately saw it and I was up and running. I’ve used it to install some software that used DVD media. I have NOT tried burning a disk with it so can’t comment on that aspect. The only quibble (and the reason for knocking off a star) is that the disk tray is rather flimsy. It takes a bit of force to snap the disk down onto the hub, and I’m concerned about damaging it. I feel that the tray needs to be supported with a hand while loading the disk, but to grasp it, you have to either tilt the unit up, or place it near the edge of the desk so that you can grasp the tray. Not a big deal, but it does make loading/unloading the tray a bit difficult (and nerve racking).

It works well with my MacBook Air right out of the box. No additional software needed. I would have liked it if it was USB 3 but USB 2 appears to work fine. I haven’t had any problems.

came fast & works good

I bought this drive when I decided to clean out all of my CDs and DVDs. I wanted to put everything on a hard drive. I ran this drive for hours on end over the course of three days, and the only problems I had were down to a few damaged CDs. The drive itself performed without issue.

Bought to read CDs for new computer. So easy to setup and use. Great price.

Bought a new computer with NO Optical Device. This solves the problem of new computer not having a CD/DVD drive, at a reasonable price. Easy to setup and easy to use.. Good Product

I bought this when I bought my new windows 10 computer. Plugged it in, and it doesn’t play the DVD. No directions, no support. So I have no idea why I can’t watch the movie. I loaded the Cyberlink software it comes with, which so far seems like it’s pointless and unrelated to this DVD player. No way to play DVD’s with the software that it comes with.

Great drive at a great price.
