Meant for expanding wireless coverage in large homes, the MX5 Velop AX5300 Wireless Tri-Band Gigabit Mesh Wi-Fi System from Linksys supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) technology for up to 5300 Mb/s of total throughput. You get a 2.4 GHz band with up to 1147 Mb/s and a 5 GHz band for up to 2402 Mb/s. With 4×4 MU-MIMO support, that equates to up to 8 simultaneous, dedicated connections.
The system also has an additional 5 GHz band for up to 1733 Mb/s backhaul speeds between the included router and satellite node. This dedicated connection helps increase network speeds without interfering with client device connections. This system’s single unit can act as a router or as an additional satellite node in existing compatible Velop networks. The Velop system can be expanded with additional devices to further extend coverage.

I have been using a AC6600 system for around 3 years. Recently I was having a problem with all but the master node dropping connections. I installed this unit to replace my master node and it took about an hour to install and reconnect my other 3 nodes. First thing I noticed was my speed through out my house was over double. Also not one disconnected node since the install.

I’d been using a 2013 Airport Extreme upstairs with the modem, with Airport Express downstairs for wider coverage. But when I learned about the Velop device, I decided it was time to upgrade to serve my two 4K AppleTVs, two Macs (me and my wife), and our iPads. Tech support from Linksys responded to my concern about seemingly spotty coverage in my 1,450 sq ft, 1892 two-story brick row house, I was directed to a firmware update that solved all my problems and made me a Linksys believer. It’s not an inexpensive solution, but in a professional setting – I’m a photographer and filmmaker with loads of up and download activity – it’s worth it.

Great accessibility to the network through the app. The product offers reliable high level traffic networking and connection.

If internet access is spotty, harder to set up. Although a mesh system, setup tools could be better.
