Just installed and it works. Sadly the installation guide does not say “Port 1 of router should be connected to Port 1 of Switch” for it to work. I spent a long hour with the tech before I was told this. The minute I did that it worked and has been fine so far (about a few hours) . Will post update after seeing how it handles the “high usage I have” The setup got poor due to instruction in quick guide. Otherwise easy install – plug power, plug internet cables (port 1 to port 1) and you are ready to go.

First the Review is for the POOR design. Set up is a pain due to ports being in the front. works as intended. This model of SE3008 had a version 1 and a version 2. Version 1 had the Ethernet ports in the back and lights on the front and Version 2 has the ethernet ports in the front. These are desktop models and not rack mount models and so when you have it on the desk instead of the wires going from the back to the side or back of your desk they are in front and causes you to pull the ethernet cords to the front and 1. it just looks tacky and 2. it wants to pull the switch off the desk. Version 2 was a huge mistake in the design. Having ports in the front are great if it is mounted in a rack. These are not.

I have an LSG-108. Power, and Ethernet connectors in back. Activity LEDs on front. Sits on the desk nicely. All cables on the back side. That evidently no longer exists. Now, to see activity lights, you have to be looking at Ethernet cables. Or, you see no lights, and the power cord is awkardly in front, while all the Ethernet cables are in back. I hate the new design for home-desktop use. I love Linksys devices, but this was a mistake to change this.

The Linksys SE3008 v2 is a great switch. The small size lets it fit into tight spaces and is easy to mount on a wall.
