I bought multiples of the small and large set for home, work, and a set for my son. After using one that a coworker had on a tricky application and not breaking the tap, I was sold. If you have ever broken a tap from side load, these will help eliminate that problem by allowing guided two handed finesse with a ratchet. The time, aggravation, and butchered mess from a broken tap on an expensive and hard to replace part will far exceed the cost of these. Needless to say, taps aren’t cheap anymore either. Compared to Jeff Bezos, Home Depot was cheaper and beat the estimated delivery date.

This socket set was really helpful when I had to use a tap in some awkward, tight places. However, the only drawback about it, is that the square taper will twist of the tap if you turn the tap too hard. It’s not meant to be like a ratchet and socket, so you must use it slowly and gently. It, or the tap, can strip or break if you try to turn the tap too hard or too fast. Nonetheless it is a useful tool if you use taps often. I used it because I had to Helicoil a thread I stripped on an engine, so it was difficult to use just the typical T-handle for the tap, in that tight engine bay.

This is a useful socket set. My one regret is that it needs to have the next bigger size, that would hold larger taps that have a square that a 7/16 twelve point socket fits over.

I am using these tapholders everytime I clean threads now.I don’t know how many times I went looking for a four sided socket to assist and speed up process, only to have a sloppy fit and constant dropping out of the tap in tight places. Or try to use that T-handle in confined areas. These holders grip the tap, just grab a ratchet/ extension and go.
