For $39 this wooden sloop is a true bargain. We received it last week and assembled it within ten minutes of work. The kit includes the hull and the superstructure as one unite, and a rolled-up mast and sailes which you have to unfold and install. The boat is beautiful, the details are well made, for instance, the small hooks that tiedown the rigging to the deck are made of brass and the sails are cotton. The paint job is stunning and the overall feel is of a well-done job. The rigging can be tensioned or de-tensioned via the small pully block detail. On the flip side, the instructions are a joke and the rudder arm had detached and floated around in the package due to insufficient fastening. The maker used a tiny brass brad that did not live up to any expectation. I will drill a hole and install a tiny screw to remedy this. This is a great medium size model of a boat that is made of wood, brass, and cotton. The hull of the boat is affixed to the display base with two screws, and I can’t wait to see if after unscrewing them and detaching the boat I will be able to launch her into our fish and frog pond. I suspect that she will float but that can only be determined after I try for real.
