The wired USB Logitech K740 Illuminated Keyboard is designed specifically for typing at night or in otherwise low-lit situations. Only the character of each key is illuminated, ensuring that you’re not flooded with light, while still providing you with enough light. The Illuminated Keyboard also features Logitech’s PerfectStroke key system for fluid typing and a soft-touch palm rest for increased safety and comfort. Media controls give you one touch access to email, music and videos.

wanting a illluminated keyboard for some time, like to work in low ambient light especially early in the morning. a real plus is dimming ability, 3 settings and off, illuminated indicators for num lock and cap lock, volume controls with mute as well as assignable funtion keys. windows 7.

Took a little getting use to the keys but once I did much better feel than any other keyboard I have used. More like a quality laptop keyboard than a desktop keyboard. The illumination is well done and great for late night sessions. Quiet and reliable typing. Also stylish if that matters. Only criticism is the extra function keys (web, email, etc). A second row of buttons would be better.

Using the product with a Mac Pro. Works great out the box – may need some key mapping using keyboard maestro. Overall great keyboard and easy to read. 3 levels of backlighting and a luxury feel. Flawless under Windows as well so far. I’d recommend!

The design is good but if you are going to use the keyboard for gaming, common key combinations will not register some keys (shift+w+space). I’ve read some keyboards of this model are not affected by this blocking but the one I received was. Otherwise, it’s a nice keyboard with a good design.

I love this keyboard! Not only can I now see the keys in my dimly-lit office, I also like the play on the keys. They have a little bounce to them which makes typing more pleasant & gives the typist the ‘feel’ of his/her accuracy. The lighted keys show up just enough without being distracting or being too faint. If I like it, it’s got to be good because I look for flaws & am very picky.

Elegant Design, Lower Profile Makes It Easier To Use, Light Intensity Is Perfect For My Needs, Light Touch Keys Are Easier To Push/Shorter Stroke, VERY Quiet/Nearly Silent Typing. This is the highest quality keyboard I’ve ever bought (been buying computer peripherals since 1998). It’s as nice as nearly any other on the market. If you’re use to a laptop keyboard, you’ll be right at home. I’m amazed that some think it’s overpriced (there’s just no pleasing some people)

Illuminated Keyboard by Logitech is vary nicely made and the size and feel of the keys are great the key light has 3 settings so it is vary easy on the eyes in darkness and with the softweare it is seamless working with your system.

I’m very happy that I went with the K740. I was looking for a full-sized keyboard to use my ultrabook with a docking station. The ultrabook keyboard is fine when mobile, but it is nice to have a full-sized option when sitting at a desk. There are a lot of $ keyboards out there, but you get what you pay for. I’m glad that I went for something in this price range. The K740 keys have great response, the backlighting is convenient, and the design is super thin. It is also nice to have a dedicated num pad.

The Logitech Illuminated Keyboard is one of the best computer peripherals I have ever owned. I tend to have very sloppy typing skills, but I strongly believe this keyboard has greatly improved both my speed and dexterity. The key-press motion is swift and fluid, and the special design of each key compensates for off-center alignments of the typist’s fingers. The box contains a CD with Windows drivers, but a USB to PS/2 converter is not included. This should not be an issue for most modern computer systems. The most recent drivers for this keyboard can be downloaded from the Logitech website. The drivers can be used to disable the caps lock key, and can also configure additional keyboard functionality. The keyboard lights up nicely in the dark, so it can be used when the lights are off. The back-lighted keys have a very small magnitude of luminous intensity, so the light is generally not visible during the day. The backlight is very noticeable in a darkened room, but it does not destroy the user’s night vision. You can adjust the backlight intensity using a small key with a lightbulb logo; this key is situated in the upper right-hand area of the keyboard. I’ve found that this keyboard has greatly increased my productivity. I would strongly recommend the keyboard for professional work in creative media, computer science or engineering.

The keys feel nice to touch, pretty linear motion, gentle curvature. It’s comfortable to use, and quiet. There are some design issues worth complaining about. 1. The indicator lamps for the SHIFT and NUM LOCK are at the lower left where they’re not terribly apparent. It took me a moment to figure out why my password wouldn’t work, until I realized it must have been the cap lock. 2. The backlighting for the function keys at top show only the symbols for the preset functions rather than F1, F2, etcetera. (The numbers are on the lower face of the key, and not backlit.) So you can’t see what function key you’re striking in the dark, except of course by knowing just where F7 is. This is especially unfortunate because Logitech provides a program to keymap the function keys, so the symbols can become meaningless. 3. There’s no indication for when you’ve muted the speakers from the mute button. That’s not unusual on keyboards, but it would be helpful. 4. The keys for volume up, volume down, mute, (as well as for keyboard lighting) are not function keys and cannot be remapped even with a third party program. So it’s imperfect, but it’s still quite nice.

I love this keyboard. When using my computer late at night I no longer have to turn on my desk lamp to see the keys on the keyboard, which I find a really big plus. The keys themselves feel nice to the touch, which makes typing all that more enjoyable, and setup was fairly easy. I use the term fairly because I had to go to the Logitech website to download the Windows 7 64bit driver which were surprisingly easy to find and install, and the programming of the keys was very easy, but not necessary.

This is an amazing keyboard. Although somewhat pricey, the quality is unparalleled. Has the feel of typing on a laptop keyboard. Illuminated keys is a very cool and useful feature. Ultra thin design and solid. This thing weighs twice as much as a standard keyboard so you know they didn’t go cheap on the material.
