I’ve been wanting an illuminated mechanical keyboard for some time. Tried a wireless one, but it had power saving that could not be turned off, a real hassle. I’m not a gamer, so I didn’t buy the MX version. Found this cabled model with the red keys, sounded right for me. I am not disappointed. Bought a 3rd party waterproof skin for it, too, fits perfect. I’m quite happy, especially with the numlock light, my 17 laptop doesn’t have one for its numpad.

I bought the Logitech K845 to replace an old keyboard that came with my desktop. It costs much more than a non-mechanical keyboard, but what a difference. The keys are nicely spaced, with each key slightly concave to give a good feel while you’re typing. The LED back lighting has only one color – white, which I prefer. All in all, this keyboard is great for everyday business use.

Moves away from mushy…

…one star off for blocky lettering. Great if you are a skilled touch typist.

My new Logitech K845 has a nice feel & tactile response to key presses, which are accompanied by a satisfying clack, but some keys, particularly the number/punctuation keys, can be difficult to discern. (I’m not an accomplished typist and have to look quite a bit) The keys also seem to sit fairly high as they are mounted on a backplate with no shrouding around the switch base. I believe this may be the reason I experience spurious keystrokes occasionally, I think I am inadvertently brushing other keys. All in all it seems to be a good quality keyboard, certainly so when you consider the price. The best part of this keyboard was the phenomenal shipping speed I received from B&H. Ordered at 7:30 pm, received the next morning at 10:30 AM (NY to Delaware)

Nice, solidly built and heavy mechanical keyboard with an understated look. The lighting animation on startup is cool, but otherwise the white only lights are functional rather that garish decoration. The key mechanism, while loud, has a satisfying click and will hopefully be more durable than the stock membrane keyboard that came with my computer.

I went from a membrane keyboard to the mechanical keyboard; a bit of a transition to adjust to the key noise and height. HOWVER, the ease of typing and the ‘feel’ as you type is great. Very responsive keyboard and I love the backlit keys.

The style and key lighting effects make this a great keyboard, especially for those that like a lot of pizazz and panache. Well worth the extra few bucks.
