They plug into the headphone jack, so it depends on what kind of sound your computer produces. People that said the speakers are poor probably have a bad computer!

As my headline says: really good speakers, especially for the price. I always have preferred external speakers to monitor speakers for the quality and volume of the sound. But also the most recent monitor I bought to go with my grandson’s computer does not have built in speakers anyway — which suits me just fine.
