The Z906 Surround Sound THX-Certified 5.1 Speaker System from Logitech is designed to deliver theater-quality surround sound for your movies, games, and music. It features one subwoofer, four satellites, and one center speaker. In total, the system pushes 500W of power, with 165W being delivered through the bass-pumping subwoofer and 67W through each of the other speakers. This system is THX-certified and can decode both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS encoded soundtracks when you’re using the speaker system to play DVDs.
In total, this speaker system can connect up to six audio sources, including your TV, Blu-ray/DVD player, DVR, Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, Wii, iPod, computer, and more. Even if some of these devices only support two channel sound, the speaker system can produce a 360° surround sound that’s immersive and tonally balanced. To get the most from your speakers, though, your computer or device should have a sound card that supports the full 5.1 Surround Sound. All told, the speaker system has two digital optical jacks, one digital coaxial jack, two RCA jacks, and three 3.5mm jacks for 6-channel direct analog sound. For managing your sound, the speaker system comes with a stackable console as well as an infrared remote.

i am in LOVE with this system. i was wondering when i could review it, and here’s my chance. this baby is a dream come true for me. i owned an Onkyo system many years ago (which i loved as well), but Logitech blows it out of the water completely. it’s way smaller, sleek and sexy looking… but the sound, oh wow! the sound is absolutely fantastic! i am extremely pleased with my purchase, and i highly recommend this speaker system to anyone looking to get immersed in rich 5.1 surround sound. i have mine hooked up to my PC so that i can also hear my music. the sub-woofer is a force to be reckoned with. holy heck, we’re talking floor shaking and windows rattling! yep, no regrets here folks!

Great option for a computer sound system. Comes with everything needed to set it up, and (not surprisingly) sounds great compared to budget speakers. For a computer setup, the simple desk control panel is much better than trying to incorporate a full receiver on or under a desk.

As an Online Video Editor (Finishing Artist) working remotely, I was looking for decent speakers to evaluate and do lite mixing of audio for broadcast. I was looking at everything from Adam to Yamaha, Genelec and others for a good surround set up. This system was pretty easy to install and start using almost right away. This was a very inexpensive way to improve what I had for $399. The other systems would’ve been about $2,000 including a USB DAC. I also sprung for a pair of speaker stands for the rear speakers. The Front and Center speaker are sitting on my desk. Couple of things I’m not a fan of? The speakers have a slight curve in the back and sit angled on a desk or speaker stand. Not bad, but not like the other higher end speakers costing much more. I thought there was a way to adjust the levels of the individual speakers like in a more expensive 5.1 setup. You can not set the speakers the way you can with better systems. All you can adjust are the output levels of the Center, Sub and Rear Surrounds. No reference mic is used to help with room acoustics. There are no settings on the speakers themselves. Not even the Sub for things like Near Field and frequency cutoffs. Speaking of the sub, I found that using the Computer Cable provided worked best for me. It plugged right into my motherboard. On the Sub, the cables are color coded to match the colors of the inputs on the back of the Sub. There are 3 cables. one for the Front Pair, one for the Rear Pair and one for the Center and Sub. Unfortunately, the connectors on the Sub are NOT marked! I had to do an internet search to find out that Green was Front, Black for Rear Surrounds and Tan for Center and Sub. Even a sticker on the Sub or cables would have been a help. Since I use these with Adobe Premiere, I found I spent some time setting up the preferences in Audio Hardware and Playback to get me what I needed. It turns out that I used Asio instead of MME for Device Class and the Device set to: ASIO4ALL v2. Had to download ASIO4ALL a while back to use with Izotope RX. All in all, for what I do, I’m happy with the system and glad I got it. If you’re not an Audio Engineer and just want good clean sound from your computer, these are a good way to go. I purchased the system with confidence that B&H would accept a return if need be, and I used my Payboo Card to avoid paying Sales Tax. A good deal all around.

Physically the speakers are quite compact and the sub was not as big as my old gigaworks one. Everything seems of solid construction. Its a shame the control device doesn’t feature some sort of display but it does its job, similarly the remote is basic but does its job. Audio quality is a great improvement over that provided by my tv, the system gets loud, there is plenty of bass, its clear and the 5.1 is nice although that comes with lots of wires. It is THX certified but being pretty old it lacks other things like high def audio. Inputs are RCA, 3 optical & 6 channel from your pc so there’s no HDMI in here. No Bluetooth either though there is an optional add-on for that. It all plugs into the sub, there is no dedicated receiver which is, I suppose, a bit more compact. Overall, not bad for the money, though some things could do with an update.

When I set the speakers up I got no sound out of the right channel. Apparently these speakers will not work with my motherboards (MSI Edge z390) built in sound card. Had to buy a Sound Blaster X AE-5 to get it running right. Otherwise they sound amazing. Very clean and having true 5.1 while gaming is wonderful.
