Makita’s new grinder dust shroud is designed to fit Makita 4-1/2 in. – 5 in. grinders. It features a spring-loaded suspension system that keeps the shroud flush to the surface during movement and compensates for blade wear. The shroud has a removable edge piece for surface work flush to edges or other objects. It also has soft brushes that help contain the dust and allow for smooth movement over the work surface. The outside diameter of the extraction port will work with most standard vacuum hose systems. The new dust shroud is ideal for concrete finishing, concrete material removal and paint or surface coating removal.
- Soft brushes prevent dust from escaping and help move the tool over the surface
- 4 spring suspension system keeps shroud flush with surface during movement and compensates for blade wear
- Standard hose fitting will work with most vacuum systems OD 1-7/16 in.
- Ideal for concrete finishing, concrete material removal and paint or surface coating removal

Bought this tool to clean old mortar off a wood subfloor after the old tile was torn out. This helped virtually eliminate the dust. just hooked it up to my shop vac. I’ve attached a pic that shows the first area I did and you can see it took the wood back to natural.

Great attachment worked great on my Makina hand grinder for grinding concrete

Didn’t get opportunity to gift the shroud because matching grinder was picked up at HD by someone other than me.So returning shroud.

worked well as long as you keep cleaning the filter on the vacuum.

Works just as purported. You will have to clean your vacuum filters often. Standard vacuum hoses slip on and attach with no need for clamps etc. I suggest using a Makita brand diamond wheel with this shroud. Well with the money.

Wrong attachment for my use, seems well made.

Worked well, except the front part of the shroud kept falling off as I moved the grinder next to the ground. Also my vacuum hose was too loose for the shroud’s dust exhaust. Had to cut a piece of rubber, wedge it in, and clamp it.

Had to make adjustments on grinder…Doesn’t fit right after adjusting, but got it to work….

It fit my Bosch angle grinder well HOWEVER I made this purchase because the Makita dust shroud was “Frequently Purchased Along With” the Diamabrush abrasive wheel to strip paint from my deck. Sadly, the Makita dust shroud is far too shallow to enclose the rather deep Diamabrush so the set-up fails.

I bought this to do some floor grinding. I did not realize it would not fit on my Bosch grinder. Be sure to check for compatability before purchasing. Luckily after some slight modification it fit on my Kawasaki grinder. It works well and seems well build.

Fantastic product! Careful though, it will not fit all grinders. It didn’t fit my grinder so I purchased a new Makita Grinder to go with it. It did a great job though. Highly recommend.

The Makita 4-1/2 in. Dust Collecting Wheel Guard is a shroud covering to contain primarily concrete and paint dust from floor grinding which can be a problem. It gets everywhere and is unhealthy to inhale besides. The wheel guard is tough plastic which I’d say is made of ABS plastic. It has a metal spring and plate mechanism to hold the guard down to the floor. The spring could have been longer to allow for more travel with different wheels. The cover uses a cup wheel and some are deeper than others. Its compact and smaller than I expected and others I’ve seen. A section of the front plastic cover can be removed to get up close to walls with the wheel. The cover has an interesting locking mechanism with a sliding lock. Around the perimeter of the guard is a small brush strip to keep the dust in the guard and out the vacuum exhaust port. The exhaust port is small and fits loosely my 1 1/4” vacuum fitting. The guard does a good job corralling dust if kept up against the floor. The dust is very fine so watch it doesn’t burn out your shop vac motor, clean the filter often and duct tape the port if needed. It does a fine job for its special use of trapping dust.

It worked great.

I got this on the off chance it might fit my non Makita angle grinder but unfortunately it doesn’t. The dust shroud however appears very well made and easy to install. The top that mounts to your grinder has springs and floats which allows you to push the blade down to accommodate different blade thicknesses. It’s hard to tell from the photo listed but a portion of the dust collector comes off to allow you to grind close to edges. It simply slides on and off without tools.
