I thought I’d write a review, even though I have yet to use this saw. I ordered it online a week ago for some 16” x 16” stamped concrete blocks I was going to be cutting for a patio. I did many online checks and queries and was orginally going to use my grinder or do a rental. I found it difficut to find pricing and proper tools for the job. Online (homemade) tutorials recommended Diamond blades for better cuts and less gerneric blades from breaking apart on you. This tool seemed to fit the bill. Great deal and free fast shipping. No damages to the box or machine. In the picture it’s displayed with a blade on it, but did not specify in the specs if one was incuded, so I purchased one anyways. I’m glad I did because it did NOT come with a blade (price for blade was equalent to deal practically). No case was included, but I find that to be common with Mikita.

I used this to cut patio bricks it sliced thru them like a hot knife thru butter. Only problem is it doesn’t cut deep enough so I had to cut from the other side as well.

Compact and easy to handle. Blade worked just fine on masonry blocks.

I am sure the saw was as advertised. I ended up returning it as it did not meet my applications needs (I required a larger saw). Since I never used the saw I can’t comment on its operation, but HD made the transaction easy.

First, I do not know why this type of saw is not more commonly used in the USA; this is a cheap, and easy way to cut tile etc. While I live and work in the USA, I also own a home, and do some remodel work in Brazil where these saws are everywhere. This is a high quality, light weight, very portable way to cut tile. This is also perfect for doing a cut-out in a remodel or repair to remove a section of old tile. Yes, I own and use a full-sized 10″ diamond wet tile saw too, but this little guy is a must have for just one job, or if you do tile work everyday. What this little saw needs is a way to drip a tiny bit of water onto your blade while you cut, hence my one star reduction. It is very noisy when you use it, so wear hearing protection, and this creates lots of dust, so goggles are a must. Now, why is this saw called a 4-3/8″ when we only use 4″ diamond saw blades in it? Strange.Makita does not make a case for this little guy, but their soft bag, “Makita 14″ Multipocket Contractor Tool Bag” is a prefect choice, and how I store mine, along with several extra blades, blade tools etc.
