As a right handed person, you can see the blade cut to make sure it’s maintaining the line you want. Cuts 95% of the material I use. Cuts everything my table saw and miter saw doesn’t. Light weight means more control and less fatigue. Bought this on recommendation from my uncle that’s a career long framer. I should have bought it a long time ago.

This a great “small in size” and one of the few 5-1/2″ corded saws left available. Has lots of power (8 amps) and easily cuts 2x’s and plywood with a good blade. I grab this saw most when a quick cut is needed around the house using a Oshlun SBW-055018 blade, My Milwaukee is setup as a rip saw and my Skill Mag 77 is setup using a fast cutting wet wood type blade. My 5005BA weighs in at 7.2 lbs. The saw comes with a really cheap blade that is not much use. The sole plate his too thin for a saw in the price range, bends easy so don’t drop it! The handle opening is only 3-3/4″ wide X 1-3/4″ high, large hands will have a time trying to use this saw comfortably. The front grip knob is useless because it’s so small but I can easily use the saw one handed so not such a big deal breaker. Other than these complaints, it’s a great little saw, well built (except the sole) and not to heavy. Arbor is 5/8″ so saw blades must be ordered online (Amazon stocks some good ones) at least that’s what I’ve discovered.I’m not a contractor so my tools don’t get the abuse a pro can throw at them so take my thoughts on this saw with that in mind.

Nice little compact saw. Pricey, especially when you consider it does not include a case. It comes in a cardboard box. included is the complimentary cheapo blade. Also, take care as the base is thin as it appears in the pic and I suspect it could damage easily, get bent etc., with rough use. I would not recommend this one for commercial use but its compact size makes it handy for the home woodworker. Cordless would have been nice too..
