After reading reviews I decided to spend more for the upgraded Magnesium version mostly because fellow reviewers described the base and angle adjustments of the standard version as flimsy. I am very happy with the magnesium version. It cuts very well and feels substantial.

Great saw but as someone else says a brake would be nice. I keep nicking the power cord with the blade as I finish the cut and set down the saw. More my bad technique than the saw of course.

The quality is excellent. I’ve only used it once so far, but I prefer it over the old worm drive I’ve been using. It’s lighter, which helps a lot at my age.

Very good quality. Very accurate, as well as not to noisy.

Works great so far. Lighter than my previous Dewalt so that’s another plus.

The saw cuts like you are cutting butter. Straight shooter.

This saw is great i have used it to frame out a garage and build a shed along with some other jobs and this saw performs great , very powerfull and comfortable to operate all day. The built in rafter hook comes in handy when on a ladder or up on rafters and its also great to hang off saw horses to keep your saw off the ground ,the overall construction of the saw is great very well made im sure this saw will last a long time .so if your in the market for a circular saw look no further this is one of the best ones i have used

A little on the heavy side, and saw dust builds up in several places as you cut. But it’s powerful and pretty easy to handle considering its size. The handles are situated so you can use it left-handed or right-handed.

The Makita was chosen for its durability and accuracy. We’ve used other saws that are heavier and difficult to use because of the weight.

I call this baby my butter knife. Worked great for my first project cutting plywood and 2x4s. Used the wrong blade for the plywood and it still worked great. Solid and ergonomic.

This is a very nice saw with plenty of power and adjustments that work well. Also you can push a button to lock it for changing the blade. If I were to carp about small issues I would say that even with the magnesium it’s heavier than the usual sidewinder design. It lurches sideways slightly when you turn it on so that it’s necessary to wait a moment before cutting, but I assume that’s the case with all worm drives. You have to put it down on its side or it will fall over. The table portion fills up with sawdust so that you have to shake it upside down before putting it away. Possibly the magnesium table will be more easily damaged by abusive treatment. It’s compatible with the Milescraft saw guide, i.e. rip fence, but you need to get a short 6mm bolt to clamp it. Also it doesn’t fit perfectly so you must make sure the bar is shifted towards the back of the saw.All in all it’s worked out great for me, and I’m completely happy.

Not as light as advertised. Blade dulled in one day of light use.
