I think the real issue is not having enough torque behind it to release since it is for an “impact” driver. My 1/4 variable impactvdrill couldnt release it so i used my 3/8” with a 1/4” socket and a couple hits it spun right out. So if doesnt come out for your, use a little more torque in reverse!!

Knurling grip is limited, key is necessary if NOT paired with impact driver, but when using WITH an impact the bit changes using the power of the driver is amazingly fast and natural. Normal drivers will have you searching for a key to fit the provided hole. If not for the lack of tightening/loosening ability with normal drivers this would have gotten 5 stars. It saved me from purchasing a hammer drill, just pop this in my impact and is perfect… except the 1/4 hex causes light wobble in smaller thin drill bits. This is unavoidable, I believe the tolerance of the 1/4″ bit end is dead on, exact with say a #2 Philips bit for example. But if you’re expecting zero wobble like a high quality drill you may be dissatisfied, again this is an inherent cost of adapting an impact driver. Possibly a little shim work would alleviate the wobble. Do NOT let it deter you, the wobble is very limited and well within expectations for a portable drill/driver. This does serve a 2nd excellent purpose, adapting a ratchet to drill for tapping threads where working by hand is preferred.

This chuck is perfect for my 1/4″ impact wrench and 90 degree adapter.I even put this chuck in my lathe chuck to check for run-out.I inserted a 12 inch long piece of tool rod and could not see any measurable run-out.I have tried this before with 5 different brand chucks and all had some run-out.I roll threads on my lathe and this chuck is the cat’s meow. Will purchase a second one for the lathe.

I bought this to use in my drill press since the chuck on it would not go small enough for the drill bit I needed to use. The wobble was so bad it wasn’t usable. Not sure if it’s the drill press or the chuck, because if there’s a small wobble on the drill press chuck it would be amplified on this chuck because of the added length. My press might have a very slight wobble, but if so it doesn’t affect the drilling I’ve done in the past. The chuck is intended to be used in an impact drill and it might be fine in that application where precision isn’t as important. I have a cordless drill already so I don’t need to convert my impact into one.

This thing is awesome and really solid. Now I don’t need to carry a separate drill everywhere and can do most things with this adapter and the impact driver.

No need to carry a drill. Your impact driver will do just fine for drilling on small jobs. The chuck is excellent.

Purchased the keyless bit because the piece I purchased to sharpen lawn mower wouldn’t fit my ryobi impact drill. Went to tool rental area, to fit a recommendation for universal bit attachment and the Gentlemen printed me up one that wasn’t in stock, I ran into the last keyless bit in the tools section. And was definitely compatible.

This worked perfectly with my Ryobi impact driver – I will confess the first time I put a bit in, I was a bit challenged as to how to remove it (this is my first keyless chuck) – so save yourself the frustration and take a couple minutes and read the directions before you start drilling ;). Once you know what your’e doing it’s really easy. Put the drill in reverse, hold the chuck and start the drill very gently (obviously point the bit down!). It pops right off and is really efficient once you know what you’re doing! I drilled some pilot holes into hard wood and brick with this and it worked great, so very sturdy quality product – glad I added it to my toolset!

Excellent.

Buyer MUST be careful – the shank of this product is a little bit short, it can’t fully insert into my Bosch Impact Drill. I bought another one made by DeWalt which fits… so I couldn’t test it for other functions.
