This Makita belt sander is a workhorse. If You need to do a lot of work in awkward positions ,choose a smaller sander. This sander is pretty heavy , Besides that, I highly recommend this tool.

I use it to sand white oak decking and it does great . Its heavy and has a lot power . Its not for detail sanding obviously but if you looking for the perfect compliment to a planer this is it. I run my boards thru the joiner then the planer and then knock out the imperfections and any snipe with this sander.
