I am a metal sculptor and this is my 3rd Makita grinder, my second paddle grinder. I pretty much onñy use it locked on, but the simple switched Makita grinder has a stubborn dwitch so this is easier.

The paddle switch makes it easier and more convenient while wearing welding gloves. Well constructed head design. will buy again when i burn this one up, last one lasted 11 years, a very hard 11 years at that.

Long time fan of Makita. I do metal work on weekends and have multiple grinders. Each has a different wheel. The Harbor Freight gets the wire brush because that is the lightest. The Bosch has a flapper wheel. The Skill has the thin cut off wheel.Since the Makita was supposed to be strong, it got the traditional grinding disk. Guess that was a mistake. Didn’t last a year. These grinders have a short duty cycle. If you are going to run for more than 5-minutes at a time, get something else or buy the extended warranty. Off to buy a Dewalt 11-amp. Heard they are making better stuff lately.

i am slowly buying electric corded ,, to replace my air tools ,, and don’t want battery ,, since i am a homeowner , i don’t want to buy cheep and don’t want to buy pro expensive ,, I wonder why businesses would get this unit and then give it a low review ,, if i were to pay someone to do a job that needed this ,, the cost of it would pays for itself easily .. this now adds to my collection and is a nice powerful and larger than my air tool and a lot easier to use .. to do jobs around the house when needed. . and the more i use it ,, the more i will save from buying this . i also like to add that the negative reviews also help me too ,, as i would not try to use this for long time to overheat and not be rough to abuse it if possible .. then it should last me a long time or longer than me ..

Nice size for easy handling and plenty of power for most jobs. Trigger mechanism is excellent. Easy to slide locking button to release and activate trigger without any hassles. Just make sure you get the right size disc for the arbor (5/8).
