The Makita 12-Volt maximum CXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 3/8 in. With Makita 12-Volt maximum CXT Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries, users get superior balance and ergonomics over pod-style batteries. For added convenience, the batteries include an on-board LED charge level indicator. The AD04 weighs only 2.7 lbs. (with 2.0Ah battery), with variable speed (0-1,100 RPM) and up to 245 in./lbs. of Max Torque. Convenience features include an easy-to-operate paddle switch with variable speed control, keyless chuck and built-in LED light to illuminate the work surface. It’s an ideal solution for users seeking a more compact driver-drill with less weight and for applications in tight spaces. For longer run time, 12-Volt maximum CXT cordless tools are also compatible with the 12-Volt maximum CXT Lithium-Ion 4.0Ah battery (BL1041B, sold separately). 12-Volt maximum CXT Lithium-Ion batteries are engineered with a Battery Protection Circuit that protects against overloading, over-discharging and over-heating. I repair and rebuild items used in the commercial restaurant and medical equipment field where this Makita right angle drill comes in so handy. The chuck is simple and quick to use when changing from a drill bit to a screw bit fastener. It has a shallower head profile than all it’s competitors and more torque than the Milwaukee 12 volt, I was originally going to purchase and I believe more than their 18 volt right angle drill.In the past few months that I have used this tool, I am very pleased with the light weight and power along with the smaller head depth for getting into very confined, difficult areas along with the LED light for visibility in dark areas. I have been on the Makita 18 volt and Milwaukee 18 volt & 12 volt cordless platform for years, I didn’t have the Makita 12 volt platform, therefore dragging my heels in getting into another charging system. This is where Milwaukee was smart in combining the 18 and 12 volt on one charger.Had Makita done the same back when, I may have given this a Five Star review.

I bought this as an occasional use drill. I have always wanted a right angle drill but the cost always kept me away. This kit was inexpensive enough and got me a couple of extra batteries. Worked great to screw a weather seal to the underside of a door still on the hinges.
