I like the power source; however, I wish it had a light on it. Milwaukee has a similar one and it has a light.

A few good utilities beyond the obvious. For frame of reference, one full charge-worth of a 5AH battery can charge my phone several times over. I would easily be able to power the phone through a full day of watching college football at the local sports bar.One extra utility I like is if I finish a project and don’t expect to use my batteries for a while, I can charge cell phones until the gauge reads about 50% before putting the battery away. At or slightly below 50% is frequently cited as the ideal charge for lithium batteries being put into storage which is probably why most lithium batteries you buy are at roughly 50% charge as you pull it out of the packaging. Not so important for people that use these daily for jobs etc, but for DIY guys like myself who may go days, weeks or even months between projects this is a handy way to extend battery life. What I’ve read and experienced in other applications using these things, a lithium battery stored at or near 100% is a very unhappy battery. Maybe the Makita marketing is true that their batteries are better against this issue than most competitors, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. My bet is most of the people who experience longevity issues with these kinds of batteries are not aware of this and are charging their batteries before storing them, because that’s what’s best for some other types of batteries. One feature I think would have been pretty handy for this item would have been a charge gauge. There are a lot of older Makita batteries out there that don’t have charge gauges of their own and I’m sure users would really appreciate a small snap-on unit such as this that can tell them how much power their older units have. Maybe even go an extra step with a numeric led so a user can know within about 5% or better where their battery is at. Have a few partially-charged 5AH batteries and want to know which two you should throw on your X2 miter saw first? Seems to me like this would be a great utility and this would be an ideal product to put such a feature on. Opportunity missed perhaps, but maybe on the next-generation product, Makita?

This adapter works great to charge my older Iphone while using one of my makita 18 volt batteries. This will be a definate advantage when I’m away from an AC power source to keep my phone charged.

This is a great accessory. It charges two phones, laptops, or anything that charges from a usb port. It runs off of your 18 volt tool batteries (batteries not included of course) appears to be well made. Highly recommended.
