Makita Impact GOLD is new innovation in fastening with a full line of insert bits, bit holders, nut setters, socket adapters, and more. Impact GOLD is designed exclusively for use with high-torque impact drivers, and is engineered with high-strength steel for longer life. The Impact GOLD Ultra-Magnetic Insert Bit Holder (B-35097) features Xtreme Torsion Technology, which allows the torsion section of the bit holder to flex under load and take pressure off of the bit tip for increased durability in high torque applications. The two-piece design is engineered to allow the torsion technology to fully activate. The rare earth Neodymium magnet is two-times stronger than magnets in standard insert bit holders, so users get the added convenience of one-handed fastening. The Makita Impact GOLD Ultra-Magnetic Insert Bit Holder is ideal for use with Impact GOLD Insert Bits (sold separately), and is engineered for driving screws in a wide variety of demanding applications including deck building, framing, installing plywood subfloor, and more.

Not quite what I expected. I have been looking for a magnetic bit holder that also magnetizes the bit so the fastener clings to it. This is for longer bits which is nice, but, the bit only sticks out far enough to engage the fastener. The magnet is strong and will hold a 3″ screw while the driver is spinning at full speed. If the fastener head buries below the surface, the bit holder and bit need to be separated for the bit to go far enough below the surface to engage the fastener. Because this is for longer bits, it also makes it hard for the driver to fit into tight spaces.

This bit holder is incredible!I’m used to the old-style screw holder where you drop the screw into a tube….it flops around and I can’t see how much further I have to drill. This bit solves the problems. The screw gets sucked strongly onto the bit and does not move. Not only can you see the entire screw, but it stays in 1 place.I did a shake test and couldn’t dislodge the screw. I then ran a 2nd test and removed the special blue magnetic attachment and the screw fell off with the slightest bump. The magic is in the attachment. Don’t go with the standard version of this without the magnetic tip.The only issue that I have is that the tip is quite bulky and isn’t good for tight areas. I was screwing smoke detectors to the ceilings and the tip kept getting stuck on the smoke detector before the screw was all the way in. I had to remove the blue tip and finish off the job.It wouldn’t stop me from recommending it. In fact, I’m so impressed that I’m planning on buying a few of these as gifts.

One of a few magnetic solutions Makita has, this one has the magnet encased in the plastic cylinder attached to the end. No complaints and it’s sturdy enough. As bits are often included when you buy a pack of screws, I like this solution just slightly better than the Impact Gold Mag Boost, only because some of those included bits may be too short for the Mag Boost to fit over. That said, I find both to be quite useful, they don’t cost that much, and recommend just picking up both. Very small point but the plastic cylinder happens to spin freely around the bit holder, so you can hold it to “pencil in” a screw precisely where you want while driving. Not all screws are strongly attracted by magnets, so even though the magnet is pretty strong, it doesn’t always guarantee the magnet holds screws to their bits. Only quip I could possibly have for this product is it adds a lot of effective length to your impact driver, which is funny given how much neurotic levels of attention Makita has invested into making their impact drivers so impressively compact. Of course in such situation where it matters you can just skip it, but hey… Still, a useful product most of the time for not even five bucks.

This seems like a solid improvement over slide up style bit/screw holder, need to use it awhile but looks like excellent.

The magnetic Bit holder seems to hold the bed securely, changing out the bits is pretty easy, a pretty good product for the price.

These are the best thing since sliced bread and it just figures that HD doesn’t carry it any more. They focus on all the other brands but Makita.

pretty inexpensive bit holder, strong magnet but it’s very difficult to remove the bit, some may require pilars to get it out.
