Makita Impact GOLD is new innovation in fastening with a full line of insert bits, bit holders, nut setters, socket adapters and more. Impact GOLD is designed exclusively for use with high-torque impact drivers and is engineered to last up to 10-times longer than standard insert bits. Impact GOLD Double-Ended Power Bits feature Xtreme Torsion Technology, which allows the torsion section of the bit to flex under load and take pressure off of the bit tip for increased durability in high torque applications. High-strength steel delivers longer bit life and the precision-fit tip is engineered to prevent “cam-out” and stripping. I used to break 3 to 4 Philips bits a week or strip them. This thing locks solid and does not break yet. Definitely will stop buying other brands. Thin stem may bend in half but cutting it in 2 will work if it bends.

I needed the length to get to difficult-to-reach screws. I could have used extensions, but expected a more positive connection with a single piece. I was installing about 4 dozen new 1 5/8 drywall screws. The variable torque was adjusted for correct pressure. When using the bit, there was more slippage than I wanted/expected and by the time I was done, the ends of the bit were showing wear and did not fit as cleanly into the heads of the later installed screws. I expected better service than this and would try another brand/model before I bought this one again.
